Are you surprised? Republicans were shouting about how awful higher education was over 40 years ago!
If you were a Republican, why go get an education and be in danger of being "radicalized"? lmao
Also, the current Republican Party is unrecognizable. When Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney are "too liberal" for the Republican Party, THAT speaks volumes.
It's out in the fringe Right, and will likely die in those shoals.
I hope actual conservatives can constitute a new conservative party taking up the proper place on the spectrum.

@irishmolly72 Sorry, but acknowledging the reality of science does notmake a party fringe; not acknowledging verifiable facts does make a party crazy and unfit.

And how does this affect how they teach math, computer science, anthropology, chemistry, physical therapy, psychology, history, English literature, health administration, special education???

@irishmolly72
So there is no importance in understanding that the world is a diverse population who should all be afforded respect and recognized as an equal player in society?

Mediocrity curriculum
The majority take pride in teaching our future. They do not take their role lightly no do the expect their student to do so.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Pinkstarburst I have great respect for mediocre people. I myself am mediocre in many respects.
Having standards does not preclude respect for the mediocre among us. That is the flaw in your logic.

@irishmolly72 I disagree. Thanks for challenging my thoughts though

And your point is, let's take a pick:
1. Republicans and Libertarians hate the Irish and will never be caught dead in Boston?
2. No one with an actual brain can be a Republican or a Libertarian?

@Northwest Yes, that's the general diversity within the greater Boston metropolitan area, BUT how many actual white people teach at Harvard and are admins there?

🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
No dude, the demographic distribution for Harvard undergrads, is not representative of the demographic profile of the Boston Metro area.
You may have skipped it in the Harvard freshman orientation, but the Harvard roster draws on the entire world, not the Boston area.
One more time, you should really stick to what you know. And remind me, what would that be? But the Harvard faculty is more than 60% white.

Duh, Republicans don't believe in science.
BohemianBabe · M
@irishmolly72 I legit have no idea what you're talking about.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@BohemianBabe abortion came from the science of eugenics. Margaret Sanger and her buddy Aldolf brought it to us. Ahhhh so prorgressive!
BohemianBabe · M
@irishmolly72 No, abortions were being done for literally a thousand years before eugenics science.
Even today, abortions are almost never done for eugenics reasons. There are rare cases where someone chooses to have an abortion because of the fetus' health, but those are cases where the potential baby would have a very short and painful life. So not exactly the same as nazi eugenics, which was about building a new race.
This is why there are so few conservative professors. If they were educated, they wouldn't fall for lies so easily and they wouldn't be conservative.

Really says a lot about the intelligence of conservatives tbh
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@666Maggotz Can you say Donald Trump??
@irishmolly72 are you sure? I got Fordham university for him. Also, he didn’t get elected for his intelligences tbh I thought it was a meme when I first heard he was running.
@irishmolly72 I live in PA. Pennsylvania or anything in PA doesn’t impress me.
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
They want lots of different demographics.....they just want them all thinking the same way.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
So turning this on its head. The smarter and more educated you get, the more likely you are to support the Democrats. Yep. Looking around here I would say thats about right..😷
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
I don't agree that Republican politicians are significantly worse than Democrats.
In fact, when it comes to lying, for example, nothing the Republicans have done recently comes close to the years-long deception about Biden's cognitive condition by Democrats.
I'm not saying Republicans wouldn't lie just as much, given the same circumstances, but the fact is that they didn't.
Therefore, I think favoring Democrats by the more "educated" classes has no sound justification, Kemo Sabe.

@Thinkerbell Again. Lying is not the subject. Its education V political leanings.😷
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
And I just got through explaining why I think the political leaning of the "educated" classes is not justified; I don't deny it exists.
It's simply a case of a hubristic and fundamentally undemocratic attitude, "we know much better than those deplorables."
In Weimar Germany, a majority of university faculty, students, as well as civil servants and judges were right-of center, or outright nationalist. We know what that made possible.
And we would do well to remember where a majority of the intelligentsia in Russia stood politically, just before the Revolution, and what they subsequently produced.

Harvard doesn't allow book burning, so most Republican professors are probably looking elsewhere 😏.
@SaltnLime Nah, they just ban or rewrite them, like Little House on the Prairie

@RedBaron They are attached at the hip to Big Brother.

@irishmolly72 And how does this impact your life?
Nobody at any university is concerned with you. In fact, they don’t even know you exist.

LeopoldBloom · M
What percentage of cops are Republicans?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@LeopoldBloom Not 98% lol
LeopoldBloom · M
@irishmolly72 OK, then what percentage of Liberty University's professors are Republicans? I'm guessing 100%.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Not that it really matters, but I just did a Google search. It appears that 55% of Harvard faculty are registered Democrats. There is a greater percentage identifying as liberal though.

helenS · 36-40, F
@Thinkerbell The other 2% were busy solving a partial differential equation...
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
That is really hard to believe.
helenS · 36-40, F
... meaning that 2% of well-educated people are not Democrats. I wonder if that's a nation-wide average?
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Maybe. But I suspect it’s different at all kinds of other institutions: Georgetown, Notre Dame, Liberty, Loyola, BYU, Pepperdine, Oral Roberts, to name a few.

That seems weird as it's an affluent institution.

@Burnley123 Yeah the bigger the government is, the more likely they are to get a job in DC. It's all very rational.
