Initiations

I asked to see who is a sorority/fraternity sibling so my next question

What was your pledging like? What did you endure during the hazing or initiation process?
Ashleighrox · 31-35, F
Just a broad post but hot damn 😂 seems like everyone got paddled lmao
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I thought I heard once that colleges now don't allow hazing
daddybloke · 41-45, M
@smileylovesgaming mayce if they know about it but if they don't ??
Ashleighrox · 31-35, F
@smileylovesgaming they don’t but it still happens
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
I would not put up with being hit with paddles and left the fraternity rather than accept that crap.
Ashleighrox · 31-35, F
@ChipmunkErnie that actually wasn’t that bad 😂
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
@Ashleighrox so you felt the full size paddle? Ouch
DADDYDEAN · 61-69, M
I take it you have felt the sorority paddle across your backside during initiation process?

In the late 70s in Cincinnati, pledges went through an extensive training and HELL week. We also had a revolt where the actives thought another fraternity had come in and tore their house up!
We lived in the Boss Cox mansion which was a former mayor of Cincy.
To go through the torture of hell week would take pages and pages and yes we got paddled three separate times, each with one swat and i had a .05 GPA not a .5 GPA. Needless to say i received extensive attention!

Other than "help week" instead of "hell week", our pledge period wasn't bad. We were punished if we couldn't recite a brother's name, major, home town, girl friend's name, and other information, but punishment usually meant shining shoes or some other task, Help week was a little bit of hell, but you endured it with your fellow pledges, so it wasn't too bad.

@exexec Hell Week was kind of fun. Ended up driving across Canada in a rickety Volkswagon Beetle

not a fraternity but at our secondry school there were gangs if you wasn't in a gang you got beat up daily , to join the gang you had to beat someone up, and then we had an old 3 car garage you would be taken there and made to strip off totally all the attendants both m/f would then hit you as many times as they liked with a switch /cane if you ran out you were history
A guy cornered me in an entryway and made me drink a shot of rum. I grabbed his hat and vomitted it up right into it.

Paddling and branding on the butt with dry ice
Tau Beta Pi.
Nothing to "endure".

What have you done yourself?

Things I'd never bother with.
I'd also make sure my children had more common sense than to follow that. And we wonder why children and adults do stupid things...
