Teachers do. They get a degree towards teaching or ECE, and are rarely given the BASIC things they need to educate- it is insane that classroom materials are often expected to come out of pocket for them, rather than being treated as a mandatory work resource supply cost. Even if that were not the case, the degree or certification they have gotten is not reflected in their salary, especially when you take into account how hard the job they actually do is (Some of y'alls kids are bad asf lmao, and they are monitoring AND teaching overcrowded classes of kids at the SAME time).
Not cops in our current environment tbh. That only reinforces and promotes a screwed up policing system. I think, more so, funding for police either needs to be 1. drastically reduced or 2. Put almost FULLY into more training and de-escalation- perhaps even with a college degree requirement. It makes no sense that lawyers spend YEARS learning about the law in order to defend it, but cops get months, or even sometimes just WEEKS of training, and are then given a gun and told to enforce it. With how many officers go into the police force as an easy way to obtain power and control over people, they absolutely should not be given a raise until the requirements for BEING a cop change. They should be paid just like everyone else- based on their qualifications. Currently, they almost always receive minimal education and training
There also needs to be a WAY better system of checks and balances before I can promote cops getting more pay. I'm sick of these internal investigations in which they cover for each other, and then find themselves guiltless. Cops who DO speak up lose their jobs or are retaliated against. I don't think we should be footing the bill for an abusive and broken system to carry on as it is.
