@ChiefJustWalks I think people putting their lives on the line need it tbh 👀
Just a personal thought

@Iwantyourhotwife firefighters, sure. But police officers.. idk. I mean it makes sense but I also feel like there's just too many officers who are in it for the sense of power & control. Maybe if they got better & more thorough training & it wasn't so easy to become a cop. Then yeah, perhaps they'd deserve better pay. Because that would weed out people who are less serious about actually protecting people.

Firefighters for example must go through rigorous training & they save people too so I think that makes more sense than raising a cops, pay, even though they both save lives.

I'm not against cops like some people are. There's good ones. But yeah it's a tricky topic

@ChiefJustWalks I really think we need to elevate the Public Servant role for police. Put that they are servants, not bosses at the top of the social mindset.

@ViciDraco yeah when I was just a kid I even used to say "who addresses the police when they're the ones wrong? Why don't WE as citizens, have the right to defend ourselves from them, the same way they'd defend themselves from us? Who arrests them when they're wrong? & Why can't WE arrest them ourselves if they're abusing us in some way".

I was joking about "policing the police" when I was only 12 & it's crazy that it's now an actual thing people talk about today

@ChiefJustWalks really, other police should be stepping up. But they don't because it can be career ending and potentially life threatening to hold another police officer to account. Good cops don't stay good cops. They get pushed out of the force or even put in dangerous situations without backup. It's really sad.
