In Indiana we called that “White Rabbit”!
If you went up and cussed at the person opening the door we called it “Black Rabbit”.
I had a friend that got caught by a parent doing that and he got escorted home and the neighbor told his mother! 😅

I guess its called ding dong ditch. I thought ding dong ditching was when you ring their doorbell and run but I guess in the US its called that too when you knock and run

We called it "Knock-a-door-run-away", which is exactly what it says on the tin.
We never had a name for. We just called it having fun. Lol

We never did that round here -.we would steal flowers from their gardens, and sometimes wreck their letter boxes with crackers or a cricket bat (my brother's did this ....I was never invited ).
But never ringing on doorbells.
We kinda knew everyone in our neighbourhood 🤷
