But is arguing about changing minds or growing minds, your own included?
Because if you're going in it with the idea of changing minds, it indicates that you feel you know it all and know the best.

Hm, since you are apparently giving up, I'd like to give you some pragmatic feedback as to why you might be feeling frustration.
Like a lot of people these days, you aren't truly asking open questions, you are putting a stake in the ground and demanding everyone prove you wrong.
If someone mentions something, an idea or thought that you have been conditioned to reject, you do so, with extreme prejudice.
You don't practice empathy, the ability to put yourself in your opponents position and truly understand their perspective and viewpoint. This doesn't mean you agree, but you can understand.
You don't seem interested in learning and understanding, you seem more interested in virtue signalling and putting down those that disagree.
Additionally, I am skeptical you are done with the political arguments, I believe you will be back.
But hey, feel free to prove me wrong...for once...😉
Finally, you can't let things get to you. It's ok if people don't agree, it's ok if you find their opinions offensive to your well being.
We are just talking here, exchanging ideas and thoughts.
Rational people can consider viewpoints that they don't agree with, without it needing to be an emotional response.
Feel better.

@SumKindaMunster You make good points. I am an emotional guy, and I am very left-leaning and despair as to what's happening around us in almost all walks of life. A lot of the time, I agree, I essentially want to plant my axe in the ground and roar (so to speak). I just have to learn the art of reasoned debate a little more.
But then you have to admit that there are people on this site who you just cannot have any sort of reasonable argument with, such as a certain character beginning with Bud who posts emotive, poorly sourced and often illogical anti-Biden rants and will deliberately take anything you say out of context.
Nevertheless, although I will stay out of political/religious debates, I will try and take aspects of what you said on board.
Btw, I agree with you re climate change. The Dems don't really give a shit either (or at least not this administration), but there is more chance of something being done when they're in power as opposed to the alternative.
I'll still be on this site tho :P

@SW-User Thank you for considering what I said and taking it seriously.
Oh absolutely and they exist on both sides.
I observe people and engage them in the manner they engage me and others on here. Some respond well to that, others do not.
I think its good you aren't leaving, it's healthy to engage with people who don't share your viewpoint, you can learn a lot by listening to them...whether you choose to believe what they say is another matter.

It can be pretty draining dealing with people on here esp if you go into politics and religion

@deadgerbil Totally agree. I challenge those people, but if they aren't responding in good faith, I move on. Not wasting my time with shmucks who aren't genuine.
chrisCA · M
@deadgerbil You can't debate religious fundamentalists, and many of the people debating politics on social media have have no exposure to entry level Political Science, or Political Philosophy.
deadgerbil · 26-30
@chrisCA they mix their untestable religious beliefs in with their politics and act like they are standing on firm ground. They would fit well in the dark ages lol
Who says anyone here regardless of position(s) on issues is here to change anyone’s mind?
There are opinions and feelings on issues which are open for discussion and points of view, albeit they’re often different.
You post your views and may have information in the form of links
or attachment that help with points of view. That said. It’s no guarantee of anything, especially expecting that some will change their minds.

@SW-User well like i said you dont give two fukks about the environment if you travel with two jumbo jets so therefore the carbon tax is a lie and a cash grab, to me thats wrong i see your angle of if it acheives the goal but to me if it hurts people and you are polluting then its wrong i dont care if ya hide behind paper straws if the liberals support this fuck em
SW-User
@Whyme Then we'll agree to disagree on that point :)
Whyme · 46-50, M
@SW-User lol and as far as your naziwagon well llet me tell you a story the football team here once let an aids infected player play the game when they knew and because of that i will never support them i feel that same way about vw but thats just me thats who i am
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Your mistake was thinking debating was possible on the net. Oh my sweet summer child, how much you have yet to learn.
Whyme · 46-50, M
And your so willing to see any other side arent you
SW-User
@Whyme Don't move the goalposts. Norway may not be the world, but it most certainly does NOT have a warm climate... If there had been huge EV uptake in, say, Costa Rica, then I could concede you might have had a point...

@SW-User ok so lets explore of these sold what are there usage like are they city commuters that just upgraded and whats the trend were there a gazillion as you say petrol vehicles sold just before your survey ?
