I think I’m done with arguing/debating on this site :)

Apart from realising that no one is prepared to have their minds changed, arguing on social media is like playing Real Tennis, or Polo - even if you win, you’re still a twat 😜

@WhymeI assume you’re taking about EVs. If you can present another side, I’ll listen.

@SW-User ev is a decent option if ya lived in the city but isnt for rural and only thing ive seen that could replace fuel is hydrogen that mopar is working on the other issues like road tax are relevant do you wanna pay road tax on your refrigerator running ? For a city i could see it not out here as for energy coal burning has gotten cleaner and more efficient or you gonna deny that too ? Plus the waste has uses ash is used in concrete spent uranium has no recycle the change needs to start i agree but the cost needs to taper with the cost not just tax the living piss outa everyone to the point they cant efford to change

@Whyme The fact of the matter is that EVs (and perhaps hydrogen cars eventually) are going to replace petrol/diesel powered cars. That is a fact.

It is also a fact that governments will probably collect no road tax by 2040 if things continue as they are. What is likely to happen, therefore, is that road tax for non-EVs will become more and more expensive until a tipping point is reached, road tax is abolished, and some sort of road pricing scheme will be introduced.

@SW-User every liberal plan is a scheme like openly stating the budget will fix itself lol educated liberals with no answers and no ev will not take over as they are unreliable and also require non renewable resources to produce
SW-User
@Whyme
ev will not take over as they are unreliable
They are very reliable, and they seem to be taking over regardless of what you hope or believe. EVs are outselling diesel cars in the UK (although not petrol, yet, admittedly) and of course our government have banned the sale of petrol and diesel cars from 2030 onwards, so their takeover is inevitable.

Also, you should know that petrol/diesel cars require non-renewable resources and have already taken over the world. It will be a lot easier for EVs to do the same with increasingly large amounts of renewable resources... (and while you're at it, how about going back to the original post to continue this?)

@SW-User they are reliable in a warm climate with dhort commutes like i said city driving but before we go further do you practice ehat you preach what do you drive ?
SW-User
@Whyme
they are reliable in a warm climate
Then perhaps you can explain why more than 50% of all vehicles, and 84.7% of all new cars sold in Norway this year are electric...

P.S. I drive a Volkswagen ID-3

@SW-User cause norway is the world eh ?
SW-User
@Whyme Don't move the goalposts. Norway may not be the world, but it most certainly does NOT have a warm climate... If there had been huge EV uptake in, say, Costa Rica, then I could concede you might have had a point...

@SW-User ok so lets explore of these sold what are there usage like are they city commuters that just upgraded and whats the trend were there a gazillion as you say petrol vehicles sold just before your survey ?
