The measles outbreak is getting worse with a few deaths

Apparently it started with unvaccinated children, it's because of anti vaxxers that these diseases are coming back. I don't know about anyone else but I'd feel terrible if I was directly responsible for my kid dying because of a weird anti science political stance. Crazy how these parents have no shame.

"We’re still in free-fall,” Dr. Peter Hotez, co-director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development, told USA TODAY. “[The outbreak] still has a lot of energy and steam behind it. And that energy and steam are all the unvaccinated kids.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), many falsely assume that measles is a harmless disease causing a minor rash and fever. However, it often causes far more serious health complications like pneumonia and encephalitis, sometimes even leading to death.

Two parents in Australia have been jailed for denying their diabetic daughter insulin for religious purposes:

Wilful ignorance that harms a child is truly criminal, but the circumstances are so tragic.

@SunshineGirl Jesus Christ! Insulin!? Yeah, jail is where they belong.

@SunshineGirl It is tragic partially because the parents think they're in the right. They honestly don't believe diseases exist or are anti science due to superstition and unfortunately it harms others. Kids are always the victims

@SatanBurger I was as much sad as angry reading that article. The little girl was genuinely loved by her parents and the whole religious community, but something went very wrong. The leader of the sect has already been jailed for coercive behaviour.

@SunshineGirl I also read the article it said as she was dying they prayed over her when it was a preventable death. Crazy.

@SunshineGirl @SatanBurger Honestly, I had a brief dissociative daydream in which I was the judge in that case.

@LordShadowfire It should have been 20 years
