I Have Sleep Apnea

Diagnosed In 2008... I sleep with a CPAP, and probably always will.  I hate it because it feels like I am attached to a dork machine,  but I realize it is a medical device that I need to keep me breathing when I sleep.  I have thought about having surgery, but I have heard the results are haphazard and sometimes the surgery makes the OSA worse.  So I will continue with my little pump and thank God for insurance to pay for  it and the supplies.

I had Sleep Apnea but talked to my Ears, Nose and Throat" doctor (who had the same surgery himself) and he was able to convince my insurance company (in less than 5 munutes), that a 60 minute surgery taking out my tonsils, my uvla, and a bunch of that extra hanging crap in my throat and I was cured of sleep apnea. I was in and out of the hospital where the surgery took place in four hours. I cannot snore now because everything back there to allow snoring is removed. Four of my friends have asked for and have gotten the surgery and are now sleeping like a babies every night with no CPAP machine ever again. Check it out. Ask the question. I had the operation in 2010 and am very thankful I made the decision to have the surgery. I had 10 days of a sore throat and now a lifetime of no problems.

I know how you feel. As far as surgey goes I had a uvala trim in the early 90's. I went from severe OSA to mild. So it helped. My CPAP pressure is 6 which is low. A friend of mine had the same procedure and he was cured since he was not severe to start with. If you consider this surgery please locate a good surgeon since it is a risky venture. Trim to much and you could have additional swallowing problems, trim to litle and it does not help. Also it does really hurt for about 2 weeks. It simply is a benefit versus risk equation. Good luck!

I know exactlyvhow you feel. I have OSA as well, I call it my darth vader machine. I also have to ave 02 pumped into the cpap because my 02 saturation goes down way to low t night even with the cpap. I don't know if you're aware of all of the other complications that can arise from OSA, but you should check them out. Your provider, care giver should be able to supply you with information . Good luck to you!

I like the way you write, without embellishment, understated, letting the facts speak for themselves.
