Ok....my Dr is officially cool

She's all on board for me going on long fasts.
She's given me some pointers, told me what to watch for and has warned me that ive gotta prolly spend at least half the length of the fast slowly getting into eating again.

Warned me that my body could easily gain back any weight lost if i do it too quickly.

Also gave me a form to get full bloods done...yay.

But my body is a flipping monlith.
I just fasted for 4 days and didnt lose a cracker ! .... .

.....i need to be stranded on a bloody desert island at this rate!

If you have any kind of thyroid issues (like hashimotos), or any kind of blood sugar issues, or probably other health conditions, fasting is terribly hard on your body, and it won't help you lose weight. Eating clean, closely monitoring diet and figuring nutrition down to macros, plus getting gentle exercise is the healthiest way to go. I hope which ever way you go - you see positive results. Good luck.
@LadyBronte yep. Do all that. Have done so for over two years.
I dont eat sugar or simple carbs. Its all veggies, meat, dairy and eggs. No proecessed foods.
Ive been intermittent fasting and two day fasting all last year.
I take extra nutients to flesh out any extra needs and some elelctrolyes.
I just finished a four day fast as a trial yesterday.

Ive been studying nutrition and other types of gastrointestinal medicine new and ancient for over two years.

Thank you for all the well heeded warnings🤗...but im not jumping into this unprepared.

Im on summer holidays, and finally have the time and the space....and now the medical support to finally do this 💪

I have a system that thrives on fasting. Its when im at my best. Even as a kid i only liked to eat once a day. Fasting energises me.
But im keen on the autophagy thing to reduce inflammation and clean out cellular debris.

@OogieBoogie That's awesome! Inflammation is far worse than most realize. Sounds like you're doing it the right way! Good luck!
@LadyBronte thankyou🤗
And yeah....inflamation is the 21st century standard setting for nearly everyone.

Years ago i was very lucky and got an absolutely AWFUL Dr....long story short, i started my own self care program and started researching.
The more i got into health and nutrition, the more i realsied food IS medicine....well, it CAN be.

The body is an amamazing organism....its programmed to heal itself if you give it what it needs to do it.
And sometimes thats just .... rest. Allowing systems to heal instead of working on digesting all the time.

Again....thankyou for the thoughtful warnings. Its good to know people will make sure others dont rush in and do rash things without thinking it thru 🤗

I think from my reading memory you need to spend time cutting down to the actual fast period as well as after coming off the fast. So say a week's fast would require say 5 days prep...fast...5 days gradual recovery. Having your GP on board is ideal.

Always great when you doctor supports something that you enjoy that could be risky behavior

good for you. I'mma start mixing my own electrolytes. it has to be better than Gatorade.

Easy peasy 💪

@OogieBoogie I had to look that up because I thought you were telling me to drink alcohol haha.

A cordial is a type of drink with two distinct regional definitions: in the United States, it is a sweetened, flavored distilled spirit, synonymous with a liqueur; in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, it is a non-alcoholic, concentrated fruit syrup that is diluted with water before drinking.
@StygianKohlrabi hahaha....well...at least you'd be relaxed working out,😆

I actually didn't know that either 🤷‍♀
You sound like you've done good research, so I'll just sit here and wave pom-poms.
@NudasPriest im glad i checked with her.
She seemed satisfied with what i was doing.... dubious that it'll work🤷‍♀...but was all for me trying.

I kinda like/hate her coz shes very up front with me.
- i think i need that in a doctor.
