1 million US citizens test positive for Covid in one day

That is only those who where tested.
Looks like the majority of the population are going to get covid eventually

Here in NSW Australia there were over 35000 positive cases reported yesterday. But remember the delays in testing to get results are upwards of a week at present so of those 35000 a lot would have been tested many days ago - not yesterday!
