I Have Something To Say About Coronavirus / Covid19

Well finally it's happened - Australia is now officially a totalitarian state as the federal government annouces effectively a total lockdown.... "People must now stay at home unless shopping for essentials, medical purposes, exercise and work or education if you cannot work or learn remotely."

This is on top of already using the military against Australia citizens and forcibly quarantining all people arriving into Australia from today in hotel rooms enforced by police and military.

Is this over the top?

Sorry if your government trying to prevent thousands of needless deaths inconveniences you

Better than dying hun!! Call me old fashioned.. 🤷‍♀️

Well I'm a shiftworker in the rail transport industry which is considered an 'essential service' so I still have to go work and do my full roster like nothing has changed with shifts all over the 24 hr clock cycle.

What I want to know is whether the new rules mean I cannot see my 2.5y/o daughter who lives full-time with my ex 5 minutes drive away. I have her with my on days that I am not working if the shift times suit, and there is no way I will stop seeing my daughter as she would be devastated (as would I).

Either that, or a mountain of corpses. 😐
No

Prevention is better than cure, and there has already been examples of people being selfish on a large scale

[c=#4C0073]that's not a total lockdown. It's a movement control order.
It's being done in many nations across the globe now. It's quite needed.[/c]

Its already happening in a heavily populated country that calls itself a democracy but is not.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Yeah the restriction of movement is unfortunately essential for containment and tracing purposes.
It's got to that stage.

Keep an eye on your phone coverage and Internet sites.
That may drop to 0 if the government start to feel threatened or worried.

Next stage will probably be police/military taking one street at a time to go do their shopping.

It's an annoyance but logical thing.
And this affects you how? Oh yeah that's right stops any possible spread of a virus that cold potentially overwhelm our hospitals, and attempts to keep the population safe. Are you a health care worker? I am, and I see already the extra pressure on our hospitals. And we haven't even reached the curve yet.

When was this announced?
butterflybaby75 · 46-50, F
It's all over the media here tonight so it would have been announced today. The forced quarantining of people arriving into the country was announced a few days ago. First group of people forced to quarantine in a hotel went in yesterday (before it actually got enacted).

Bugger.I sort of don't get a lot of the hostility, specially around parks. The risk is really zero but there seems to be your belief we can't be seen to be enjoying anything. And yet we're crammed into queues
[c=#359E00] it's because there are lot of iresponsible moron that government need to take that policy. If you guys bit smarter and responsible it won't happens[/c]
Hell no it’s a common sense thing. People are too stupid as a whole to quarantine themselves for a short time span while others are dying around them.
Torsten · 36-40, M
that isn't a total lockdown and people should be doing that now anyway considering it is just common sense at this point
UnlikeableAndy · 36-40, M
NZ is in lockdown as well. Although the military has not been used yet ..
@UnlikeableAndy That’s because the Kiwi PM is quite a decent respectable lady. Unlike the laughable moron in Canberra. Everyone listens to a good leader.
UnlikeableAndy · 36-40, M
@DrScissorhands I agree.
LostGuy · 26-30, M
Really.. government trying to save thousands of lives??? What a douche move..

Using the military like that is a bit much
