How do I handle my family hating me because I tested positive for Covid?

They’re calling me selfish. They’re worrying about what happens if they test positive . They’re all vaccinated. And I am too. They’re just acting like I ruined their life. Has anyone else been through this. Because I don’t know if I’ll survive the anxiety until I’m off quarantine.
Point out the truth. You did everything in your power to avoid Covid - There 🙄 Is 🙄 Nothing 🙄 More 🙄 You 🙄 Could 🙄 Have 🙄 Done!!!

They know what happens if they test positive... they isolate, just like you are and everyone else who has ever had Covid19.

Sure, it's an inconvenience that you got sick, but there's nothing more you could have reasonably done, with the information available to us to prevent it from happening.

They're going to catch it eventually, just like the rest of the planet.

Just laugh at them. If they get covid then their vaxes don't work. If they get seriously ill with covid their vaxes made them worse. You will be better in a few days if you are at all even sick. You will have the immunity they will never get. Gonna suck to be them.

Know that’s exactly the political agenda they want to separate friends and family and breed hatred

@Shaveit ooh yes.... blame everyone else but the culprits.
PhaqueYou · M
@Darksideinthenight2 oh, so you're excusing your bigoted family?
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
They’re being very unreasonable. Everyone is going to get it at some stage. If you’ve chosen to take the vaccine you have done the most responsible thing available for the time being. They are panicking and lashing out unnecessarily. I’m sorry.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
I’m hungry- I wish I could leave my room to get food @WintaTheAngle
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@antisocialbutterfly Then you should. They can’t expect you to starve during this. You’ll need decent food to give your body a kick through this.

U have a selfish family..my condolences!
wackidywack · 22-25
I'm sorry they're giving you such a hard time while you're already sick. I hope that it'll be over soon for you
Why would they hate you for that? It's not like you did it on purpose.
Fluffybull · F
I'm sorry you have such a selfish, ignorant family 😰
Shaveit · 61-69, M
You got vaxxed… How can you possibly have Covid… It must be a bad test you must be just fine
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Shaveit And now go read what immunity means. Because you're confusing the broad concept of "immunity" with "sterilizing immunity" (i.e. complete protection from infection and transmission), and due to that, losing your mind and going for tangential conspiratoid crap. These vaccines were never trialed, at any point in their development, testing and post-distribution for their effectiveness at providing sterilizing immunity, but only "protection against symptomatic disease".

Back in 2020, the efficacy against symptomatic disease was fixated to be >50% for a vaccine to be approved. Currently, three doses of mRNA vaccines confer 60-80% efficacy against Omicron, and greater than 90% against symptomatic Delta. Two doses are currently greater than 70% effective against symptomatic Delta, but insufficient (i.e. below 50%) against symptomatic Omicron (reason why eligible people with more than one functioning neuron have been getting their boosters).

Long story short, read less rightoid conspiratorial crap and educate yourself, then you can have this talk.

@Elessar Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting you against harmful diseases, before you come into contact with them. It uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to specific infections and makes your immune system stronger.

Vaccines train your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does when it’s exposed to a disease. However, because vaccines contain only killed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you at risk of its complications.

How does a vaccine work?
Vaccines reduce risks of getting a disease by working with your body’s natural defenses to build protection. When you get a vaccine, your immune system responds. It:

Recognizes the invading germ, such as the virus or bacteria.

Produces antibodies. Antibodies are proteins produced naturally by the immune system to fight disease.

Remembers the disease and how to fight it. If you are then exposed to the germ in the future, your immune system can quickly destroy it before you become unwell.

The vaccine is therefore a safe and clever way to produce an immune response in the body, without causing illness.

Our immune systems are designed to remember. Once exposed to one or more doses of a vaccine, we typically remain protected against a disease for years, decades or even a lifetime. This is what makes vaccines so effective. Rather than treating a disease after it occurs, vaccines prevent us in the first instance from getting sick.

@SW-User I'm aware, I've gotten all those that were made available to me.

{@antisocialbutterfly] 😮 for goodness sake what is wrong with your family is not like getting an s.t.d . anyone can get the virus through no fault of there own. your family seriously need to get a grip of themselves
You're all vaccinated??
And they're giving you a problem??

They're hopelessly brainwashed
Nomad7 · 22-25, M
That's ridiculous. Time to find a new family, maybe one that loves you
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Vaccine doesn't prevent u from getting it. They would survive just like u will
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Hate to say it but your family sounds “special”.
PhaqueYou · M

You haven't done anything wrong. I am sorry they are treating you like this...it seems they are projecting their fears onto you.

@antisocialbutterfly
Go feed yourself.
Tell your family to lock themselves in their rooms for an hour while you eat.
