Do you eat salads often?

I want to start incorporating salads more often at lunch. What do you like most in or on your salad?
I love carrots, cucumber, grilled chicken, egg, cheese, croutons , tomato, and light ranch dressing.🥙

My lunch is almost always a salad. A rather large helping of baby greens, add some butter lettuce, then onions, lots of them and lots of the mini sweet peppers all slied up in rings and depndign on what else is in the fridge, chopped carrots and/or celery.

Then to keep it healthy, I make my own raspberry balsamic vinegar dressing for that extra kick to a salad.
I tend to eat them daily. Chicpeas, tuna, parsley, olives and sun-dried tomatoes with lots of olive oil and lemon is my favourite.

I make a salad to go with dinner for my family every night

I like all those, too!

My office cafeteria has a salad bar, paid for by weight. I sometimes get a salad.

It also has hot dishes that vary by day, that you pay for by weight, too, the same price per pound. I sometimes get some hot food in my container, then top it with some raw veggies and cheese from the salad bar.

I am starting to like the feta cheese. It adds good flavor to everything. I almost always add a little.

Sometimes I get soup.

They also have sandwiches and can make burgers. But those have fixed prices.

And other things.

I do eat them often. My favorites are wilted spinach, romaine and bacon with a walnut-balsamic vinaigrette in cold months or romaine, spring leaf mix and lightly steamed baby carrots with an apple cider vinaigrette in warm months.

@faery I love bacon bits on salad too!! I like the combo of ranch dressing with it but walnut vinaigrette sounds awesome!
faery · F
@Baybreeze The walnut vinaigrette is SO good and many recipes online. I don't follow any strict recipe but it's pretty simple to make.
Yes.... 1 hour before meal every day. This way you don't get any sugar spikes.

Mine is usually 1 cucumber, half beetroot, tomato, white radish, green chillies, lemon, onions, coriander.

Egg, cheese, croutons and ranch dressing should not be in salad.

Salad should be raw greens only.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Royricky09 Eggs are healthy, and I often use light cheese. And as long as there's a few veggies in addition to lettuce I don't see any reason egg or cheese can't be added
@Baybreeze eggs could be part of a meal not salad. As I mentioned, salad should only be raw greens that's all for maximum benifits.

Well there's 100s of different recipes for salad which people have made for their own taste etc....

I admit that I don't eat salads often enough.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
No, unfortunately I'm lazy and forgetful to make one in time. 😅 I mostly make them in mid-late summer when we have abundance of vegetables from our garden.

Cucumber, tomato, green pepper, onion, olive oil, black pepper, salt, sugar, lemon juice

Or shredded carrot with shredded apple.

Or lettuce with water, vinegar, salt and sugar.

Yes 3 or 4 times week.
lissah · 36-40, F
Same except bacon. And no chicken or croutons.
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
I love salads. I eat a salad 5-6x a week. They can get just as high calorie as a meal when you fill them full of good stuff. Or if I'm not into it just a simple Cesar salad hits the spot.
Honestly i do because its the only food that goes down easy no matter the situation and i get stomach aches often and can still eat salads. I just love salads. And it feels like you have the most options with them you can make one out of almost anything
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
I like a good Caesar salad best, which I know doesn't have a lot on it, but I like it. I will also sometimes order a nice chef's salad or antipasto salad if the pictures look good in the menu.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@sarabee1995 Mmm antipasto is the best!!
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Lettuce, maybe other veggies, and some tuna salad on top.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
Fully loaded smothered with Caesar dressing

I don't eat salads much because of dental work. When I did it was with the works. Every vegetable you could thlnk of including croutons and shredded cheese. Now I do a lot of coleslaw. 😀
Selah ·
Yeah it's an easy, filling meal.
IM5688 · 70-79, M
I try not to. I tend to think of salads as rabbit food, not people food.

@IM5688 He's funny lol. Ty for sharing . My friend used to say, "I'm not getting a salad, (when we were in a restaurant) , what am I a rabbit?" 🤣
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
Not as much as I would like.
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
Traditional Greek salad should have a hit of spice to it. Paprika and cayenne. Ground black pepper and garlic powder. The dressing should be a simple splash of olive oil. Anything else is blasphemy. I love red peppers and red onions in mine. You can use green olives instead of black or Kalamata if you prefer. !!
Musicman · 61-69, M
Lettuce, cucumber, croutons, cheese and Blue Cheese dressing. I prefer my protein to not be on my salad.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
