Vegans are healthier than the general population even after accounting for income, just sayin'. Correlation doesn't equal causation but you can clearly be healthy without animal products.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@BlueVeins I cannot do a plant-based diet it's heavy on carbs and I can't eat carbs or beans being a diabetic 2 it raises my blood sugar incredibly high.
It doesn't do this to everyone, but I'm a lucky person who is highly carb resistant ,I guess.
BlueVeins · 26-30
@BlueVeins I'm trying bruh after almost dying and seeing so many others in a bad way. I'm really trying.

It seems you're talking about Carnivore.. but you have the wrong idea about it.

Carnivore is just about eliminating all sources of inflammation. You can add foods back in after you detox. You'll need to add them back in one by one to see which could have been harassing you, then again remove that food if it is.

This diet has heaps of health benefits and has saved many peoples' lives.

If you're considering this diet, please do the research on it.. don't just stop here and discard the idea. Again, it has saved many peoples' lives and restored their health.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Magicianzini I've done research on it and most of the videos, I've watched have said that you should do just meat, salt, fat, butter and salt.
I do what I would call a modified keto diet and it seems to be helping.
I eliminate anything that raises my blood sugar too high.
I have also added an extra protein and some extra fat ,but I could not keep a full carnivore diet it would bore me to death and the thought of eating just meat makes me sick.
@Justmeraeagain Yes, you do just those while detoxing. And detox can take at least a year or more. It's only after that where you can start adding in veg. Also some Carnivore keep dairy during their detox.

But I will say this to you.. if the thought of eating just meat makes you sick? It's not likely the right diet for you. The human body is very intelligent and gives us yearnings and lacks of desire. These should be heeded for health. If the thought of too much meat makes you feel ill, that's likely not what your body needs right now.

Avoid what makes you sick/provides nausea upon thoughts of eating it .. and eat what your body yearns for. There is only one trick in that.. if the body is starving, it can tend to try to overcompensate with sugar and carbs (body is trying to get energy.)

And yes, one can be 300+ lbs and be starving... because it's about nutrition and food worth.

Nuuuuuuuuuu. I've done the carnivore and I won't say it's bad, but it was not the right diet for me because it caused me to get kidney stones and I had to have an operation. We are actually just supposed to follow a balanced diet and our body will thank us for it. In the right proportions. But one thing people don't know. If your body is in a stressed mode, it will not release fat.

When your body is under stress, it goes into survival mode. Instead of focusing on burning fat, it focuses on protecting you—so it holds onto weight. That's what that book tells you. When I learned the right way to eat, I didn't count calories or anything. My body was less stressed when I addressed the stress, and then I could relax and my body felt safe and the pounds started easily coming off. That's the way that works. That's the key to weight loss. When I did what I was supposed to do, I lost 10 lbs the first week, cuz my body felt safe.

When you're stressed, your body releases a hormone called cortisol. That hormone tells your body, ‘We might be in danger,’ so it slows down fat burning, increases cravings (especially for comfort foods), and can make your body store fat—especially around your middle.

It’s like your body thinks there’s a storm coming, so instead of using up supplies, it starts storing everything it can just in case.

Stress doesn’t make weight loss impossible—but it can make it slower, harder, and more frustrating, even when you're doing the right things.

And I'll tell you why that works for me. My body has been through real, long-term stress—not just everyday stress, but deep emotional and physical trauma. A body that’s been in survival mode for years, doesn’t just flip a switch overnight. It needs safety, rest, and consistency before it fully trusts that it can let go.

That’s not failure.
That’s your body trying to protect you the only way it knows how.
I don't believe that eating that way is sustainable. Doesn't seem healthy in the long term .

@chernobylplaygr0unds
I really like meat, but I cannot imagine only eating meat kind of makes me want to gag and it would be really boring
No, I don't. I think fruits and vegetables are just as important.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@MsSwan it would seem that you would be deficient in some minerals and vitamins they claim no, it definitely would be boring
@Justmeraeagain Yes, it would.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
We need vitamins. I cannot imagine a diet without fruits and veggies.

Now let's talk about chocolate....
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Justmeraeagain

I have had some sugar-free chocolate that I thought was excellent. I think the manufacturers pulled it off by having a high fat content!
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@DrWatson I do like the Lilly bars
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Justmeraeagain

I am unfamiliar with those.

I suppose I will have to try them now! 😄
Rutterman · 46-50, M
No. That sounds like a road to malnutrition and a host of health problems. I think a well-balanced diet is generally best for people.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Rutterman I love salads, I would miss them.
I looked into that carnivore diet and the longer they're on it looks like malnutrition, like the people who keep taking gpl-s even after they lost the weight.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@Justmeraeagain Same for me. I eat a salad nearly every day.

I'm not surprised. It's hard to believe anyone could maintain good health eating nothing but meat, fat, salt, and butter.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Rutterman I don't think extreme diets in any sense are very good
Not at all. Fruits and veggies help keep people healthy.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@bijouxbroussard That is what I believe as well
Lostpoet · M
Everyone is different and has different nutritional needs. I support the Mediterranean diet heavy on fruits and vegetables light on meat and fat.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Lostpoet I think many diets work when each diet tries to eliminate highly processed foods and sugar.
I need the good fats (I get too hungry without them and overeat), and my blood sugars rise too high with a plant-based diet, especially the wheat and grains.
Even the whole wheat.
As you said, there is not a one fits all, most likely.
If it works for you, keep that up.
I don't preach my diet as the only good one out there.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
It sounds like the best recipe to develop scurvy. I know there's some vitamin C in offal but I don't believe it's sufficient. This diet is probably only good for people living somewhere in Siberia or Greenland. I can't imagine someone living in Southern Europe suddenly switching to it and be okay.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@CrazyMusicLover I wouldn't do it I get bored and eating all that meat would be sickning
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Justmeraeagain Same. I listened to some people talking about their life on Greenland and I don't know if I could do their diet. It sounds really terrible to me.
Gusto · 18-21, M
No proler human doet is eating everything
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Gusto it's just what some people call a carnivore diet but I don't think it would be a good one
