Do you think it’s possible that my

Optometrist was flirting with me….?
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
It’s all coming into focus now. 👓
He's got eyes for you, for sure!
Northwest · M
That would be totally unprofessional, but it is what it is.

Usually they're in a hurry to get a patient out, so they can get to the next one, so if he spent an unusual amount of time chatting you up, he's probably interested. If I tell someone they're interesting, it means I'm interested.

BTW, if he's looking for signs of glaucoma, he will do that with one of the specialized tools in his office (and that's usually part of the exam). Playing detective is not part of any optometrist exam I've ever experienced.

@Northwest I guess he’s quirky and maybe a little bit lonely. He’s always been fun, and I guess I’ve seen him once a year. My experiences with doctors, both male and female, they tend to develop a certain level of rapport with me, and I them.Even my PT says, look forward to seeing you next time, and we view each others dog photos. I guess I’m peaked by my optometrist because I happen to find him so attractive that I’m surprised he MIGHT find me attractive. I usually am just myself. I don’t want to flatter myself if he was just being friendly. But sadly he’s divorced now, and that might make him behave a little more lonesome. As usual, I’d love to introduce him to my best friend who is incredible AND single.

Okay, back to work. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’ve known him 20 years.

Are you asking if you’ve caught your optometrist’s eye? 🤭
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Maybe you have a cross eye, and the Optometrist was thinking I could get lucky or make this is may more sense as she can see

I can see clearly now 👓
Mindful · 51-55, F
@nedkelly I don’t but it is a way to avoid being awkward when up close… he just opened. Up to me for a moment and called me interesting

Mindful · 51-55, F
@nedkelly haha maybe I’ll try that next time. But He said I don’t really need glasses hahah

Consider that my gastroenterologist is by now the woman that knows best my "inner beauty" 😊

@samueltyler2 it’s much more likely he was just doing the whole get you patient to chat thing. But yes, he locked eyes with me as he was walking out another patient in the lobby… I just turned away… like I always do pretended not to notice
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Mindful well, he is an "eye doctor!" i have found that women know how to "disarm" men by locking eyes with me and smiling.
If you see it that way. 👀
Mindful · 51-55, F
@mindstruggle I had to read that twice before I saw the subtle humor, no pun intended! 😃
I had a very flirty eye doctor. He wasn't offensive, just playin'.

He was quite pretty, too, but there was the wife thing.
496sbc · 36-40, M
What did he say
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Mindful sounds like he's into... Fruits. 😂

I don't see any obvious signals but I would just ask him "Are you single ?" his answer will tell all you need to know.
Mindful · 51-55, F
@Queendragonfly I mean yes he is into fruits, nooooooooo….. I won’t ask him if he’s single!!!! oddly enough he asked me if I had any travel plans coming up… seriously I was clueless… in the moment… I thought it was just normal courtesy small talk…I wasn’t expecting anything and I had too much on my mind at the time. But I do have a follow up appointment. If it’s “flat and normal” I won’t think about it anymore! By then he’ll be dating! And make my life easier hahaha
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Mindful next time he asks anything respond "Why? Are you trying to flirt with me?" if he says no then go "Thank god, sorry you're great but I prefer my status as it is atm" 😂
pdockal · 56-60, M
Anything is possible
Did you want him to ?
Mindful · 51-55, F
I guess I just want to give myself permission to be flattered😃
pdockal · 56-60, M

Then be flattered regardless if he did or didn't and who cares what SWers think
Mindful · 51-55, F
@pdockal 🥰
Yes it is possible but he could not be too obvious because it is a professional encounter.
Bowenw · 61-69, M
Of course it's possible. Try to get him talking more with hopes of it leading to more if you like him.
Was he making eyes at you?
Mindful · 51-55, F
@PhoenixPhail he was laughing loudly, reacting to everything I said, he shared that he was dating, mentioned apples, somehow got me to share some of my sensitivity to voices, asked information, somehow got me to talk about my travel plans, but it’s probably standard. Questioning, right? He shared that when meeting others he always wondering if something is wrong with him first….
Maybe it’s just standard get your customer to talk first….just blah blah blah

I don’t look men in the eyes, I can blush in a heart beat…and don’t want to be vulneerable…
@Mindful He sounds unpracticed at being professional. He could also be nervous or lonely, and be fishing for friendly connections.
Mindful · 51-55, F
@PhoenixPhail he’s nervous maybe, but I think he is just psycho analyzing and making a medical diagnosis. But he asks in a way that is very… much like a medical doctor who is an expert at making diagnosis, like Dr. House, and he’s trying to figure out how best to treat you based on your daily diet? He said my eyes indicate they are experiencing pressure, and that pressure can affect my eyes. So he definitely spun me around in circles, to diagnose whether or not I might have glaucoma. But he did it in a “Columbo” detective fashion where he is having a conversation with you and it doesn’t make sense and at the end, he makes his point. But there’s no need to confess to me that you are dating……I wish I could watch his patterns w patients. Now he has me curious. and I just want to tell him, “ you probably watched too much “Columbo”, and “MurderShe Wrote” where there’s a grand finale or revelation: you may have glaucoma, and we won’t know until you come back and I can compare data! Dah-tum!
Dude, why did you spin me around round into weird conversation like that! It’s clever, but, still like really? I practically told you my whole life story and now I’m picturing dying berries in your fridge and apples on your countertop because they are your favorite!
Thevy29 · 36-40, M
How many pairs of glasses did you buy from him?
Mindful · 51-55, F
@Thevy29 haha they have a separate sales lady for that…I did order a replacement pair
lim1212 · 31-35, M
no he's just looking in your eye. that's their job.
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
No, he wasn't wearing his glasses
Mindful · 51-55, F
@BigGuy2 I’m going with that one right there!
