Tell me some of your dating stories?

I'm bored. I'm newly separated. What the heck can I expect out there?

In August of last year I met a guy in my buildings laundry facility. He was visiting his grandmother who lives a floor below me...

She'd been having health problems as he was doing her laundry.

I'd dropped a sock on my way out and he returned it to me in the hall.. .. in which we struck up a conversation.

A few days later I'd ran into him at a WaWa where he'd stopped to have lunch with a work crew...and he asked me out.

We had a several long phone conversations that week in anticipation and I remember he really surprised me at every turn.

Learned about his time in the service...how he lost the lower part of his left leg due to a road side bomb along the boarder of Syria.

So the day arrives, we have a nice dinner and decided to play miniature golf. Right when we began to play I received a phone call from my sister in San Francisco. Our father had suffered a heart attack.

I can't say I remember completely what all transpired but on a first date I brought a small purse containing my ID, 50$ cash a hair brush and chap stick. We were 60 miles from my apartment yet 10 from the airport.

He drove me there and put a round trip ticket on his credit card that left in 40 minutes.

He stayed in contact the length of my stay, picked me up when I returned. ...and well...crasy first date.

Been seein' him since.

@HoeBag Definitely unlike any first date I've ever been on. 😊

Thank you 🩷

@Punxi First dates can be complicated for sure.
We do not know the person yet but we are suppose to look good, act confident etc.
Acting confident is hard when we are trying not to do any mis-steps.

I was married for 14 years but we divorced in 2010, yet we are friends to this day, amicable split.

Anyways, our relationship started off on very shaky ground. Not fighting, just very b*zarre circumstances for the first few weeks. Of course it was probaly myself overthinking the situation.

@HoeBag A beautiful story in your heart. Thank you for sharing with me.

Bizarre circumstances or over thinking...which I always do as well...there was definitely a lasting spark. For us both

Well, by reading the comments you received on the topic your probably getting a good idea what its going to be like "out there." Its not gonna be pretty sorry to say. Its not like years ago its sorta depressing I'm sure you weren't planning on being single and having to date again, I know I wasn't and still am. My personal advice would be stay off the dating apps it will definitely turn you off to dating and if you see a dude your attracted to dont be shy to go up and say something. As a guy I'm telling you were definitely open to that, because personaly the way guys have been stigmatized recently I'm reluctant to approach women myself, so its welcomed.
So, hope this helped a little and best of luck 🙂

I had a crush on my friend’s friend. Told him I’ll treat him on his birthday - we went out. I was really happy but he was kinda giving out mixed signals. Sometimes he’s warm and then he’s cold. Travelled to his city multiple times (4 hours away from mine) - last straw was he kissed someone (literally felt like an ice cold water splashed on me).
I had to move on (well after a few cries) and I’m not needed. Sooooo 😬

You remember that awkward, tense feeling we had as kids when we were around our friends' parents? Especially if they were religious.

I shortly dated someone who gave me that vibe. Anyways one time we were suppose to go out and I called my friend "K" and told her, "Hey I am suppose to go out with that we*rdo, can I just hang out at your place instead?" After that, me and we*rdo never saw each other. It was a mutual "standing up".

Another time years ago, I had a breakfast date scheduled with someone on a Sunday morning.
Well, I had been out all night partying so I fell asleep at the restaurant during the date.

@chasingMonday Yeah it is like we do not know the person but we are suppose to be confident and even impress them.

One that immediately pops out in my mind is one chick who was so angry at everything it immediately turned me off. She was all yelling at people in cars & going off about all the people she hates & wants to fight. She even took me to her place, took her pants off, & I still didn't make a move because I was scared 😂 I was like nah this one might kill me someday, I'm good. But I still had to rely on her to take me back to my car so I played nice then never saw her again lol

@ChiefJustWalks
going off about all the people she hates & wants to fight.

You could have started waving your hands like Bruce Lee and making funny kung-fu fighting noises.
Not at her but just in general.

Something like this. BTW before you watch it, go ahead and stretch those cringing muscles so you do not hurt them. 😄

@DancingStarGoddess yeah exactly what I was thinking lol

@HoeBag I wasn't confident enough to be that cringe yet 🤣 but lmao I haven't seen that movie in so long it was like new to me so over again. But I'm still like 😬 why'd he bite that guys sack?
HoeBag · 51-55, F
@ChiefJustWalks that bite was a bit far and awkward.

Funniest scene I thought though was when that lady is talking to one of them, saying something about "But I do not want to bore you with my story" and he just goes, "Thanks".

Just all nonchalant.

I've never been on an actual date. My exes were all people who decided they wanted to be in a relationship with me, and nagged until I caved.

Closest I've been to going on a date was the time my then boyfriend told me "we're going to the movies tonight, but we're gonna have dinner at a restaurant first bc I crave their steak. You pay for your own ticket and meal ofc"
When I was 22 I agreed to go for a drink with a guy, he went around telling everyone/anyone that would listen that I was "his woman now".. It actually terrified me.. I ran for the hills..

I had a girl break up with me because I liked going out to expensive restaurants to eat to often. I guess she felt bad because she was a family girl and her family couldn't afford to eat out all the time because they smoked like two cartons of cigarettes a day. 😓

We met, dated, married, divorced. Never again!
Nate931 · 31-35, M
I've only really had positive dating experiences.

Okay, my first girlfriend in high school ended up coming out as a lesbian later, but that wasn't my fault 😩

It's a jungle out there.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@TryingtoLava Yes, one of the women I met for a date looked like this, nothing like her profile pic. I'll never understand that. I take a terrible picture, so I have the opposite problem--I look better when I show up. But why people are OK with shopped or AI pics is a mystery--everything falls apart when they walk through the door.
@uncalled4 phone home?
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@TryingtoLava I really wanted to, but I lived alone.
I was born to repel women and serve as a warning to other men not to be like me.
