What was your first date ever like?

A testament to my clueless social graces when it came to peers and the opposite sex. I felt she did nothing but talk about this other guy she had dated but on further reflection it dawned on me that it had been me that kept steering the conversation back to that because I was at a loss on what other small talk to initiate. I really had a crush on her. She took a year abroad in her studies. I got drafted. We corresponded for awhile, but her responses kept getting shorter and farther between. I couldn't read the message. When I got back from the Army I wrote to her in care of her parents. She responded that her mother thought she should tell me that she was married, had a child and a second on the way. And that was the end of that.

I was 12 years old and it was a school valentine day dance. The guy was popular but not cute and he had tape on his glasses. He was the only one who asked me and I was probably the last one he found to ask. He French kissed me and I almost threw up and refused to kiss anyone else till I went on my second date at age 17 with my best friend.
