I've never heard of anyone who had a problem with them. From everything I've heard and have experienced of them, they seem nice. Their leader is a creep, but no worse than what we are currently afflicted with.
Arrogantly, I often thought Canada was an extension of the US. I learned otherwise visiting Toronto in September. Less tense and angry. More accepting and polite!
I suppose they’re like people anywhere, some nice, some not so nice. I think the culture there is a bit better than here though. Seems like less angst and hatred.
SOME of the Canadians I've met on SW are very nice, and SOME SW Canadians are belligerent communists. I suppose that there would HAVE to be a great many Marxists there for someone like Trudeau to be elected.
I've been to Canada three times.
In Montreal, my family and I were taken right away and seated in a restaurant, which was nearly empty, but when a Vietnamese family showed up, they were asked if they had reservations, and when they said they did not, the Maitre d' told them that ALL of the tables were reserved. (Blatant lie). There was obvious racial bias.
I've also written on SW, (temporarily), to far western Canadians who were deeply biased against Native Canadians. There is a shameful history there.
@4meAndyou Americans have an equally shameful history. Here is a copy of a mural that was painted on the wall in the Massachusetts town where I typically spent half my year.
I usually think...I would hate spending winters in Canada. It sounds so cold and snowy! But other than that, it sounds like a nicer place to live then here. I've liked every Canadian I've met. Even the ones with such thick french accents that I couldn't understand a thing! 😅
And they are great neighbors to have. No complaints.
We really aren't that much different than each other.
Like differences between different regions of the US and different regions of Canada aren't any more or less than the differences from each side of the 49th parallel.
Like someone from the NE-US would be just as different as someone from Ontario to someone from Arizona. Someone from Maine is just as much an odd duck to me as someone from the Maritimes up there.
The differences are what is typically a regional difference than an international difference. Not saying we're exactly alike but more similar than different.
