I’ll be working at the church kitchen feeding anyone who comes by for a meal on Christmas Day. We anticipate about 200 people.

@joe438 That's great!

Having worked at a homeless shelter for families with children, I found it surprising that all of them had invitations to go elsewhere for Christmas Day, consistently. Same with Thanksgiving. We always cooked a turkey for them with stuffing and gravy, but It always had to be put away with no one to eat it.

And I will not be inviting anyone at all to Christmas Day dinner this year. Instead, I will cook and then drive the meal over to my annoying friends house.

@4meAndyou There are holiday dinners here and those places they have them are always packed and more people every year. At Thanksgiving they hold it in the old high school and had 1200 this year. I imagine they will have at least that many at the Christmas dinner too. These meals are not just offered to the homeless. It’s for people who may not have a lot of money for a meal or they are alone and don’t want to stay home all day by themselves. They also have people who will deliver the meals to their homes if they call and make arrangements and don’t want to get out for some reason (handicapped or don’t want to be exposed to germs in a crowd for example). They give away gifts to everyone at the Christmas dinner. So many volunteers involve in these dinners.

@4meAndyou Awwww, that must have been very disappointing.
AbbeyRhode · F
Too many of them are on drugs and dangerous. I give to food pantries and other charities.
Nimbus · M
@AbbeyRhode That's a point to consider.
@AbbeyRhode Amazing how many people are supportive of the illegal immigrants but would not allow them to enter their homes

No I have young children in the house and can't risk their safety. I do what I can and donate to help.
Nimbus · M
@Cigarguy Good point.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
No, Ray is getting out of the hospital some time this week so there won’t be any company or us going somewhere.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti I hope all goes well, Patti 👍

@Nimbus so far he is doing good. Grouching at the nurses or whoever if they don’t there quick enough, haha.
I told you before you are more than welcome, but I refuse to supply blood pudding and the weather is currently around 35-42 degrees daily

@Justmeraeagain Sadly, not enough room.
You?
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Nimbus I think you have to have common sense and taking someone in that is probably an alcoholic or on drugs into your own house doesn't seem too smart to me.
This is no slight on the homeless, because they have problems and they do need help.
We do have a soup kitchen down the road that feeds the homeless Monday through Friday.
Nimbus · M
@Justmeraeagain Exactly, you have to use your senses to make a judgement in case it is a bad decision.
coffeebird · 31-35, FNew
