Colorblind is a cop out.

I know it’s tempting to say you don’t see color in the face of racism , but here are 3 things I’d like to point out .

1. Being Colorblind is an actual medical issue

People Who are colorblind ( from what I read Anyway) still see colors, it’s just that where someone with regular vision can see millions of shades, a colorblind person can only see around 10,000.

So I would argue it’s pretty insulting to those people to take a real condition, and try to hide behind to avoid uncomfortable realities.

2. It’s cowardly

No one’s forcing you to speak up , not everyone that sees something will say something. But the fact is that it’s better to not partake in the conversation than to waste everyone’s time with the “ I don’t see color .” Shtick

3. It makes you complicit

Do you know what’s worse than people harm others? Those who witness it but choose to look away.

I don’t care is a better stance than I don’t see color, because it’s a bit closer to the truth of
The matter.

to me people who claim they’re colorblind are very ignorant to racial issues. I don’t think they have bad intentions and just need some education
Racism is something else
Racism is also a fact.

And It’s apparent you’re that dud who can’t think.

@Puppycat23 You said: "And It’s apparent you’re that dud who can’t think."

Try engaging me in a conversation, Puppy. Are you scared?

@sree251

Why would I be? You can’t think 😂

What are you saying here? I don't see the killing that is going on in Gaza as racist. I am not looking away from the fact that it is people killing people and condemn it as wrong and we all need to make them stop. I don't see Jews and I don't see Palestinians even though I am quite aware of and can identify the warring parties based on which side of the conflict they are on.

Racism is defined as a negative attitude one perceives in others. This very definition is a condemnation of the bigot who is not colorblind.

I don't know. Seems you're comparing the physical and the emotional. I don't think it's used as a literal phrase. Because that's impossible. It's to denote a way of thinking. Could even be seen as a "quality of their character" take. But as it's used now I do see it as most often falling under virtue signaling. And that doesn't really much. But "I don't care" isn't an equivalent to "I don't see color." Not even close.

@Ynotisay

Even if not literal is there a point to that phrase ? No

Let’s say for argument sake that “ I don’t care .” Is a harsh criticism

“ I just don’t wanna speak on it .” Or “ I don’t feel comfortable partaking in that topic.” Whatever fits .

It’s still more honest than “ I don’t see color .”
It's also a lie. We humans are evolved to notice both similarities and differences in the people around us. And skin color is a very obvious difference, if a shallow one. (You know, it being skin deep? Sorry, I'll show myself out.)

@LordShadowfire you’re fired lol
When I lived in North Portland in the late 90's, the local chapter of the NAACP was holding a rally DownTown, my roommate, who was Black, staffed a vendor booth with shirts and merch that said "Love Don't See No Color". What changed in the last almost 26 years where that phrase is now considered racist? Please be honest, did the Black community themselves decide it was, or was it the pathetic modern woke white neoliberal leftie losers that LOVES to co-opt with "marginalized minority groups" that decided it was.
AfroDOS · 26-30, M
@NativePortlander1970 or maybe im my own man with my own views , and if you wanna disagree that’s your right .

But trying to tell me I came to this conclusion because of liberals and wokesters is invalid.
@AfroDOS They have been co-opting and manipulating the Black and Minority communities since at least the mid 1950's, making You All think they're allies. Think logically for a moment, seriously think what I am about to show You.
