Colorblind is a cop out.

I know it’s tempting to say you don’t see color in the face of racism , but here are 3 things I’d like to point out .

1. Being Colorblind is an actual medical issue

People Who are colorblind ( from what I read Anyway) still see colors, it’s just that where someone with regular vision can see millions of shades, a colorblind person can only see around 10,000.

So I would argue it’s pretty insulting to those people to take a real condition, and try to hide behind to avoid uncomfortable realities.

2. It’s cowardly

No one’s forcing you to speak up , not everyone that sees something will say something. But the fact is that it’s better to not partake in the conversation than to waste everyone’s time with the “ I don’t see color .” Shtick

3. It makes you complicit

Do you know what’s worse than people harm others? Those who witness it but choose to look away.

I don’t care is a better stance than I don’t see color, because it’s a bit closer to the truth of
The matter.

What are you saying here? I don't see the killing that is going on in Gaza as racist. I am not looking away from the fact that it is people killing people and condemn it as wrong and we all need to make them stop. I don't see Jews and I don't see Palestinians even though I am quite aware of and can identify the warring parties based on which side of the conflict they are on.

Racism is defined as a negative attitude one perceives in others. This very definition is a condemnation of the bigot who is not colorblind.
@sree251 So you're telling me that when you look at a person whose skin is a dramatically different color than yours, you don't notice? You don't see that? If you were to talk to a purple Plutonian person, as a random silly example, you wouldn't notice that his skin was purple?

Noticing color is not where we as a species went wrong. It's assuming that skin color has anything whatsoever to do with someone's character.

@LordShadowfire You said: So you're telling me that when you look at a person whose skin is a dramatically different color than yours, you don't notice? You don't see that?"

Of course, I do! I saw that big nose and curly hair of my best friend in 3rd Grade at PS3 where I went to school in NYC. I can pick out a Jew from a sea of faces at any airport lounge in the world. And, believe me, it has to do with someone's character. I don't necessarily mean character in a bad way even though it could be so. We can talk about this over a beer in a bar and have a blast but not here.
@sree251 Well, then what are we arguing about, buddy? Seems like we're on the same page.

@sree251 I think what I’m saying here is pretty simple.

“ I don’t see color.” Serves no purpose and makes no point.

If it’s a matter of wanting to avoid racial discussions, it makes more sense to Just do so than to use that god awful cop out of being colorblind .

Also not sure what that tidbit about Gaza has to do with this .

@AfroDOS You said: "Also not sure what that tidbit about Gaza has to do with this ."

That tibit about Gaza has nothing to do with racism or color. It is pure hatred of oppression, and this hatred exists within a family between husband and wife, children and parents. Blacks kill blacks in violent crimes every goddam weekend in US cities. Same deal with white on white violence when neighbors from hell shoot each other.

People hate each other and it has nothing to do with color of their skins.

@sree251 dude I’m trying to understand you , but it seems like you’re just rambling .

Can you try a little harder to be coherent , and on topic ?

Same race crime is completely irrelevant in this conversation
sree251 · 41-45, M
@AfroDOS You seem to be fixated on something that does not exist. I am debunking your topic. Your perception of human behavior is irrational.
AfroDOS · 26-30, M
@sree251 ok now I’m convinced that you’re either a master troll, or you actually believe these word salads of yours are profound.

Either way I’m gonna break it down to you in a way that even a middle schooler could comprehend.

Whether you like it or not , racism is a real thing, sport .

Discrimination based on skin color is real , and saying you don’t see it is borderline foolish.

You’re actually a prime example of the kind of person that I’m talking about, you would have done better just staying out of it as opposed to coming on this post and embarrassing yourself.
@sree251 Why don't you provide us with your clearly defined evidence that shows hate crimes based on race don't exist? I'll wait right here. I have all night.
AfroDOS · 26-30, M
@LordShadowfire get ready for another long winded word salad lol
@AfroDOS That's okay, I need a good laugh.

Racism is as real to folks like you as the Holy Ghost is real to Catholics. You see things and you can't accept that your perception is a cultivated one.

If racism is a real thing to you, then race is also real to you. So, tell me what is your race? I am not trying to split hairs over identification with ethnic origin. What are you? A specie of biological organism because you swallowed that crap in school?

@sree251 the Holy Ghost
Is more real than your intelligence at this point, but thank you for proving my point

This was a whole lot of mental gymnastics that Could be avoided, if you had the balls to Just say “ this isn’t important to me:” but thank you for the laugh however I see no need to let you comment any further.

Even if you were gonna go with the “ race is a social construct argument .” You’d then have to admit everything else around us is .

And yes don’t split hairs, but do split yourself out of this discussion when common sense and reality are available.
