In to the mind of a racist

Do racists genuinely think that racism is like living with schizophrenia. That racism is made up and racists doesn't exist?

I saw some racist jokes about how people "see racists everywhere, in their closet, under the bed"

So. The mind of a racist: Brush of and gaslight the reality a large number of people experience. Claim they are crazy obsessed and schizophrenic so they see pretend racism everywhere (because racism isn't real.)

I wonder if the try to gaslight and manipulate people in general in their lives. Can we say that racists who straight out deny racism are often having narcissist tendencies? Is there a connection there?

To always judge and look down on others and feed on hate speech stereotypes takes a certain type of person. I don't think they can hate others unless they deep down resent parts of themselves too.

Under hate hides fear. Racists are very scared people. But what are they so afraid of? Are they afraid of getting in danger? Do they want everyone with x skin colour to be far away from them to protect themselves? Do they honestly believe a coloured person is more dangerous?
Is it a revenge plot for personal reasons? Are they feeling inferior and taking it out on someone else?

The irony is that because racism exists. People who are targeted become on guard and feel in danger too. Which can make someone less polite. So it's fear verses fear.

The only way to stop fear is to realize that fear is an illusion. Fear itself can't change the course of events. Only actions can. But there's never any guarantee for safety. Where there's people. There's always a risk.

Racism is the inability or refusal to recognize differences between individuals of a perceived group. To the racist all members of a group are the same. Which is of course nonsense.

So it would make sense that a racist also can be sexist and lgbtq phobic since that's other groups where everyone is perceived "one and the same" and a negative conclusion about the entire group instead of acknowledging the obvious, the indviduality.

I’m not sure who I heard this from, but it was here.
Racism is the state of mind where
All persons x, are condition Y

Without regard to the cost, is a central premise is Flawed
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Dshhh And people who discriminate often ironically fear being discriminated themselves.
Dshhh · M
@Queendragonfly I think it’s unfortunate that word has gained that meaning. Quite literally discrimination means telling one thing apart from another. Without a judgment about what those things are or if they are good or bad
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Dshhh "Discrimination - the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, age, sex, or disability.
"victims of racial discrimination"

It does not mean telling one a part of another.

The first guy that comes to mind is one of the nicest guys I know in person, but almost everyday he posts angry rants on Facebook in which he often mentions a long, long list of topics the msm has supposedly lied about recently, among them BLM “riots” and “hands up, don’t shoot”.He seems to honestly believe that racism doesn’t exist anymore, except maybe for some black people who are racist against whites.

From what I’ve read, racists are really afraid that as the white population is shrinking the non-white population is increasing, and they’re honestly afraid that the non-whites who are replacing them are dumber and more compliant. If you assume that, most hysterical right wing media makes more sense. They may also be irrationally afraid that non-whites getting treated better will lead to non-whites getting treated worse and ultimately losing their rights. Think about it, since white people historically oppressed people of color, to someone who’s racist, why wouldn’t you expect them to treat you the same way if the power dynamic was reversed?

@Queendragonfly “Against all politics” that doesn’t make sense. You mean like he was against all political parties? Or he just didn’t want to participate in politics himself? Or like he favored no permanent government like an anarchist?
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@JPWhoo I think it makes sense. Not everyone cares about politics.
JPWhoo · 36-40, M
@Queendragonfly Okay, so he just didn’t want to participate in or keep up with politics himself? But it’s okay for everyone else to still do it?

I’m no political scientist myself, but I still think of that as right wing philosophy. Just passively right wing. He must be privileged because if he wasn’t he would have opinions/beliefs about what the government should do or not do to improve the living standards of people like him. Neutrality always favors the oppressors, as all that is needed for evil men to win is for good men to say and do nothing. It’s still the same right wing attitude of “I’ve got mine, screw everyone else!”

Racist starts with the insecurity that one may be inferior. Everything else springs from that..Hate is a defence mechanism.😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Queendragonfly Sexism in particular is just stupid. The human species is made up of two parts. Both are finished without the other..😷
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@whowasthatmaskedman I believe you have confused sexism with lgbtq
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Queendragonfly OK. Now its semantics. At one level you are correct.. But the genome only recognises the two as a breeding pair..😷
It's partly that racists don't want to acknowledge that racism exists, but it doesn't help that some people actually do see racism everywhere.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@BohemianBabe It's still far more people who deny being racist than people who make up racist biases.

However, racists love to focus on any criticsm of the people they are targeting.
@Queendragonfly I don't know, I'd say it's a lot of both. The media does try to inject racism into every story involving a black person.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@BohemianBabe I'd say it depends on what sources you choose to begin with.
Ducky · 31-35, F
I know exactly who you're talking about. That guy is every southern stereotype mashed into one. Ignorant, racist, quasi-literate, incestuous and just plain stupid. And he always gets triggered with me when I poke fun at southerners. Of course he does. He was saying that to me when I was pointing typical denial among racists when they're called out on it. Didn't say anything close to his insinuation that I was making out racists to be everywhere, lol. Clearly, I just hit a nerve. Gee, I wonder why?

I've seen those who are openly racist hilariously say they don't consider themselves a racist, so maybe a lot of them really don't believe racism exists. It wouldn't surprise me, since they get bred to believe that people of color aren't people at all. It's just typical.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Ducky Are they all really bred to think that? I know some are but I think many also develop it , they hang out woyh other racists and then it just grows til they are one themselves
Ducky · 31-35, F
@Queendragonfly That's also how it can be bred into them: becoming part of the herd like the livestock they are.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Ducky Or they experience something scary that happened from x person who belongs to x group and as automatic defense "That group is dangerous people"
Peaceandnamaste · 26-30, F
It's ignorance and bigotry and power. There's people claiming they're not racist but they actually are.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
It's silly to make a generalization about millions of people, and yet that's what some people do.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@uncalled4 We all make generations to a certain level I believe, but as long as they happen within the frame of equality and general respect, they are no threat to the society or to anyone's person.

Especially not if we are aware we do it,and visit our own mind with a little Introspection now and then.
