Last year my granddaughter who was in 5th grade said "she" when referring to another kid in her class. Her teacher then scolded her in front of the whole class and told her to refer to the child as "them/they". My granddaughter was really upset that her teacher was angry with her and made her feel bad. Innocent mistake, what the hell???

@spjennifer What do you do with those who have died and come back and said they went to heaven then? They even described exactly what the doctor said on the table when they were reviving them and what all they did and how they went to heaven, talked with God and came back. They certainly weren't hallucinating because every detail was right on as confirmed by the doctors. I've seen many testimonies to that. There is an afterlife and that's the whole reason Jesus came so we would know that and not have to guess. We all have a spirit and soul and that never dies. That goes on to live through eternity and that's why these people have these experiences. You don't know that God wasn't with them when they died. If those young men and women cried out to God when they were dying, I'm sure he heard their prayers and carried them to heaven. We can't blame God for war. That was man's idea and choice. And we have war because of sin in this world, man wanting to do this and that and causing war, and this tells us exactly why we need God. He's our only hope, as this world gets more sinful every day.

@LadyGrace You do realize that the Christian faith comprises well over 2 Billion faithful Worldwide, right? The few anecdotal who state being resurrected means not many of them are getting to so-called heaven nor are many of them being resurrected either so what's the point of a Religion that lies to its many followers? You can't prove that "gawd was with them when they died" either, sorry not trying to be mean, it's just I don't believe as you do...
Carazaa · F
@spjennifer You saw many pray to God to save them? Well yep that's what people do when they are in trouble. I pray that His will be done and I serve Jesus. Rarely do I pray for myself. I pray for wisdom, and I am ready to see Jesus any time. God saved me on numerous occasions when he could easily have sent me to heaven. Many people beg for mercy only when they are in trouble.

It's basically a cultural war and it shouldn't be played out like that in schools. When nonbinary is the preferred term to describe a fellow human being, well, it really stinks of Brave New World already. They need to see where they're heading with that first. No more individual rights is the beginning of the end for a society. As for your son, well, things will settle down eventually again and he shouldn't be feeling bad about been called names that don't stick

@basilfawlty89 My apologies, but nevertheless have a good life :-)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@val70 It’s part of an agenda to further fragment society and weaken it. It’s easier to take over an entire nation when society has been fragmented pitting people against one another. People need to wake up and realize that they have been manipulated.
val70 · 51-55
@cherokeepatti Sure is :-) I'm doing everything to awaken them to rational thinking and realistic prospects that are much more important to the larger society like poverty for example

Well we will all die one day and if in the future someone digs up our bones we will fit into one of two categories either male or female!!

@TheWildEcho So true!
@Carazaa You hold these views? Bit suprising considering your previous posts😱 Your own are going to attack you now!

I listened to a podcast with a sexologist who is specialized in treating transgender people the other day and she was saying she had noticed the increase in number of these people in recent years and how she has absolutely no explanation for it and no cure for them. She said they treat transgender people, not confused people who don't know what they want and that this whole trend might have pretty bad consequences in the long run. It was a quite interesting take on things from the point of a view of an actual expert.
LeopoldBloom · M
@CrazyMusicLover I'm still convinced that in the past, more masculine girls kept their mouths shut, same as effeminate boys. Same reason gays and lesbians stayed in the closet. They were always here, they just didn't come out until recently.
My only comment on anyone who starts to transition and changes their mind later is...they changed their mind. I remember talking to one woman on here who was despondent because she wanted to be a man and knew it was impossible. She didn't want to take hormones and have a penis constructed, she wanted to be a man. So I can see someone like that starting the process, then stopping when they decide it's not worth the effort when they can't reach their goal.

@LeopoldBloom There are various cases but a few actually sued clinics and doctors for misdiagnosing them. And they were misdiagnosed because later they switched back to their original gender and wished they had their sex organs back or to have feminine voice again. Many claimed they later realized that their desire was based on gender stereotypes coming from society rather than their inner need to be in a different body. It's really sad but it happens.
LeopoldBloom · M
@CrazyMusicLover That's why doctors need malpractice insurance. But unless the surgery was botched or the doctor knowingly lied to the patient to fool them into having the procedure, I don't see how anyone could have a case.
Sounds about right to me.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Yes. Right-wing media has been lying for generations about this. But Conservatives keep falling for it. Obviously, if the claim was true, America would already be run by Marxists by now.
@BritishFailedAesthetic You can't name a source which says that we have been saying this for as long as that meme says.

Nonbinary people do exist, but as with every "newly discovered" psychological thing, there will be lots of kids who will "try" it out to see if it fits.
I wouldn't worry. If it fits your kid, they'll stick with it and you'll come to understand them more as time goes on. If it doesn't fit, the kid will be over it soon enough and things will resume as you are used to them.

Yeah, it's getting that way in many workplaces now too, you can't even compliment someone for looking nice anymore, male or female or non-binary. You have to be very careful and conscious of what you say too as words that have crept into our vocabularies over the years are no longer acceptable either. It's a mad, mad, mad world... 😖
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@LeopoldBloom I work in a medium sized Hospital with about 350 nurses under my charge, we still see lots of it from the Doctors, mostly the older ones. Board and Exec's are still partial to the Dr,'s and loathe to bring them up on it too but the younger ones seem to get it...
LeopoldBloom · M
@spjennifer It's definitely more prevalent among older men. Do you think there is a correlation between viewing women as sex objects and blatant disrespect toward minorities and LGBT? Of course, they can be guilty of it too.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@LeopoldBloom I don't know, in Hospitals it's also about the power dynamic between Doctors and Nurses, Doctors hold more sway due to their positions but yes, part of it is also women being viewed as sex objects, specially pretty young Nurses. We have some diversity and even a few LGBTQ+ Nurses, including myself but it's very much about what the Doctors can get away with because of how much revenue they bring in to the Hospital, money talks...
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
This just goes to show you how easily influenced youth are. They are being taught these things as part of diversity training most likely in public schools.

Okay, I had to look up something more about it and got a pretty decent laugh actually. 😂 There's an interview with someone who uses neutral gender for themselves (not in English) and I just can't. 🤣 Sorry, not sorry, it's impossible to witness this with a straight face.
It's unacceptable that society tries to force people to respect everyone's whim and prosecute those who won't comply.

@CrazyMusicLover One day they are a girl then a "them" then a "non" , its ridiculously sad that people are so confused and don't know what they are and demand everyone to jump to their confusion.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Carazaa It's not "one day". They switch from one gender to the other fluently as they talk. Or some use neutral gender consistently. Or at least intend because they make a lot "mistakes" and switch back to their birth assigned gender. Maybe if they were actually consistent and were able to use it with a straight face themselves I could start respecting it but so far all of them looked like attention deprived kids who get enormous kick out of bending language and breaking societal rules. Since the use of neutral language in first person already has comical connotation how can anyone take it seriously? Not even them can and often laugh like crazy using it.
Carazaa · F
@CrazyMusicLover I don't care if someone is a girl or a boy, we are just people and I don't think gender is a big thing and it is sad that some make it bigger than just being a human being. We are all just people under God, and it doesn't matter what gender we are.
LeopoldBloom · M
More nonbinary kids feel comfortable coming out now because they’re at less risk of being murdered than they were in the past.
deadgerbil · 26-30
There is increased sensitivity in general, but context matters. Some people will cite increased sensitivity in society when they face backlash from saying racist or homophobic things and I have no idea what you said so I can't judge
bijouxbroussard · F
@metaldog But Jada does have a nicely shaped head. 😄
@bijouxbroussard yep agreed!!

@Roundandroundwego The meme is used when someone is obviously lying. I'm saying that your claim is comically exaggerated to the point where it's obvi not true.

@Roundandroundwego that's not plagiarism
Should people put academic citations after every gif they post now, since apparently it's plagiarism?

I can’t say one thing without being called a homophobic or a racist.
Well, is it possible you've been saying a lot of homophobic and racist things?
MrEagle · 41-45, M
Two different things. Not sure how any comments towards non-binary could be considered racist, but yeah they could be perceived as homophobic.
I'd say it's an opportunity to talk with your son on these things. If there's confusion, that's where parents need to step in. Otherwise, they'll go with the crowd.
At the end of the day, I'd be more concerned with how my son viewed me and supporting him, than worrying about how other people would react to that.

Sexism definitely shaped our society. The nuclear family is like a prison cell for my sexuality. Lots of people would benefit from a more egalitarian and caring system. Too bad we're against that socialism stuff. Comedy and snide remarks about gender are the replacement for progress.
Ynotisay · M
I think it's part of teenage rebellion. Or a monkey see-monkey do thing. The reality is that very few people are actually non-binary. But it sounds good. Kids like to feel that they're "special" and this is a way to get there. There won't be any more gay or trans people than there's ever been.

@BritishFailedAesthetic You obviously didn’t read the headline on the OP.
@justanothername Yes, it's about modern sensitivities.

@BritishFailedAesthetic you got the first part right. But are all Americans accepting of those sensitivities? And what happens when they are not accepting?
