socialism and communism are not the same?

Pundits of “American Capitalism” represent socialism and communism as the same; in an effort to make “Socialism” and social supports appear worse.
Please advise!

@ron122 chicken & the egg on that one. Plus republicans are statistically older, thus more likely on SS a form of public assidtance. Id say its age thats the distribution issue, especially among current politicians; not specifically political. affiliation.

True, they aren't.

However neither are social supports and social programs socialism either. Even less so in fact. Welfare, public assistance, publicly funded libraries and fire departments are not aocilaism by any standard.
