We need to model the US more closely on Ancient Rome in the Imperial period back when it was working well!

The Roman empire crumbled little after adopting Christianity, after roughly a millennium of polytheism

The United States is already well embarked in the process that led to its fall, at only 1/5 the lifetime of the Roman state.

Every attempt to recreate Rome has failed, fails and will continue to fail miserably.

Well, you have your Emperor, all you need now is something that looks like the things that were taught by Jesus Christ and then you have the other bit you want. Your history is somewhat awry. Augustus decreed a personality cult based on himself. He was no promoter of Christianity in any form.

My own view is that the worst thing that ever happened to the Church was for it to be taken over as a state religion by Emperor Constantine. Keep the Church out of politics.

The problem there is there's always been an inverse relationship between the church's political power and spiritual power. When Christian's were being tortured to death it couldn't be beat! Once it got into government, it did a better job of telling people what to do, but wasn't so good at spreading the message

...and don't forget the fall of ancient Rome. The USA is going down that same path, so I think your American model of Rome is already in place.
