Should there be a limit on land holdings? Per person\family?

I mean one family owns as much land as 5 times the size of Alaska

So the holding of the Emmerson family might actually be related to their business. But why does a telecomms person need over 2 million acres?

@SunshineGirl exactly and you can bet they are escaping taxes some kind of way.

@SunshineGirl status...
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Convivial Why can't they just collect shells like the rest of us?

@jehova The largest private landowner in England is James Dyson, inventor of the "bagless vacuum cleaner". He apparently accumulated farmland as a way of avoiding inheritance tax (agricultural property was exempt until this year) when he passes on his wealth. There are many similar "armchair farmers" in England.

@SunshineGirl look at the bright side,.. I'm sure an early morning shell collecting exercise with miss M brings more pleasure to you both than those 2 million acres every will to him ;)

@SunshineGirl good too know. . . Does that allow for the majority of people to acheive their best? Seems the system may have evolved past "needing the bag", but where does all the bullshit end up?, besides in the news and on television. Yes the escaping of taxes is notoriously the business of old aged and era past wealth hoarders. How can it be redistributed to equalize opportunity? Agriculture is what has allowed society to exist & advance. Without food there would be no civilization.

@Convivial perhaps limits on total holdings per person or family? Maybe maximum share of a given market? There must be some guidlines? What is England's approach to this wealth disparity?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Convivial Definitely . . can you imagine having to mow the lawn on that lot!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@jehova Even before we discuss the rights and wrongs of tax efficiency/evasion, buying land for non-productive purposes damages the economy. Farming wages are stagnant, the price of land has never been higher. So real farmers cannot expand and young people cannot enter the market.

@SunshineGirl there goes the weekend🙄

@Convivial My girl would give it a go for a fiver!

@SunshineGirl I don't care how good she is lol... It ain't happening in one weekend 🤣

@SunshineGirl thats precisely what im trying to say. Then to add insult to the disadvantaged position every working age individual is in. The established money hoarding families\people dont pay anywhere near a fair share of their exploitive earnings. If a flat tax were administered, which most of the western world EU and Canada do; most of the inequalities in society would balance.
Plus imagine how much less violent there would be if America actually paid its debt? And stopped buying and distributing weapons?
Unfathomable!
