What made America Great?

What happened to leaders like this?? I know he wasn't perfect and you're all going to tell me all about the things he did wrong or illegal or whatever ... but I just love this speech...

And please don't misunderstand me. I'm NOT an open borders advocate. But I DO believe strongly that lawful, orderly immigration is and has been one of America's strengths for 240+ years.

"If we ever close the door to new Americans, our leadership in the world would soon be lost."
~Ronald Reagen, President, USA

He was a man with principals, values, a sense of right and wrong, faith, and a strong love of his country. He'd never dishonor his office with antics, open disrespect, and revenge.

@Livingwell Are you really sure?

Does Iran Contra ring a bell? Here is more:

@samueltyler2 Yes, I know all about that. And Bush's admin made up the WMD story to invade Iraq. As was pointed out, they aren't angels but they had a conscience and worked with what they were given.

@Livingwell I was only reacting to your deification of RR.
daydeeo · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 So any admiration equals deification?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@daydeeo choose what ever term you care. He is definitely Teflon Ron

When did I say anything about you anyway?

@Livingwell
He was a man (person?) with principals, values, a sense of right and wrong, faith, and a strong love of his country.

Exactly. And I think most of that should be a pre-requisite for office.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 No one is deifying President Reagan. But everything that @Livingwell said is demonstrably true. Does that mean he did everything right? No. Does that mean he never bent rules for what he considered the greater good? No. He wasn't perfect. But this post is not about him. It is about that speech, which apparently no one wants to talk about. 🙄
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sarabee1995 sorry, but, yes, the last time this country took a serious look at immigration was during his administration. I will give him credit for that, but look what has happened to his "party" since that. I pointed out the chaos of his administration as well, because it is not fair to judge him on that one speech alone. But, yes, if only those who do drift him would only listen to that speech and pay it forward to now!

@sarabee1995 I give up, it is about a speech given by whom else, by HIM.
