Does all this global tension mean that if the USA is attacked, no one will help?
There are lots of people here who see what our government is doing, we're not all bad... Then again I do understand my own country is abandoning other people while they're attacked. I hate this.
This is why Americans are always complaining about our funds being misappropriated to countries that hate us and don’t deserve our funding.
Everyone hates us until it’s time to ask for money. Like Ukraine for example. Now all of Europe is angry because they have to pay for their own war instead of us doing it
We have one of the strongest if not the strongest military in the world along side of being one of the wealthiest if not the wealthiest country.
It wouldn’t be in anyone’s best interest to attack the United States
@DeluxedEdition What you're missing is that what you call "handouts" are mutual beneficiary contracts. Countries receive aid and in exchange let you exert influence, have privileged trade deal with them, and effectively let you have infinite spending capacity because we hold your currency regardless of how much debt you make
Remove these conditions with or without slashing the debt and the USA you've known 'till now becomes a thing of the past.
@MasterLee I don't know what you mean. @SinlessOnslaught Thank all the americans who still believe in 'live and let live', yes they exist, and yes they are much more in numbers than the not so nice americans. @DeluxedEdition politics is like that everywhere, but unfortunately US politics, and most of the leaders seem worst of worsts, like batshit worst. And since their decisions not only affect you, but also the people all over the world, the resulting global hatred makes sense.
As of right now, NATO would still help if America got attacked. But if America actually does invade Greenland, Panama, Mexico, Canada, the penguin islands, or any other country, then America could be kicked out of NATO. They might also be kicked out if Russia invades a NATO country but America sides with Russia. So, ya know, fun times.
@SinlessOnslaught Realistically speaking, nobody is going to invade America any time soon. But with the return of fascist movements in Europe and Asia, it's not crazy to say that America could be attacked in a decade or so. And by then, NATO probably won't help America, unless there's been a huge shift after Trump.
@BlueVeins Good point. Pair that with the current administration actively erasing important intel under the guise of "draining the swamp" and we're pretty screwed.
Let's make it clear though that this is the biggest impact FOR US. Our selfishness is much more consequential elsewhere.

The governments of other countries dgaf about America anymore
@SinlessOnslaught yes which would force the u.s to become self sufficient, in order to survive. U.s. started as able to survive on its own. Maybe it needs to learn how to again?
@Thrust Okay I guess you wanna circle back to my original post instead of talking about why you assumed my political stance on a three week old post.
No, I'm not "Preparing for the next Pearl Harbor." That is frankly the worst way you could have possibly interpreted what I said.
Think of it more like speaking the only language someone understands. A long time ago, a lot of people died because of US negligence. As I type this sentence, a lot of people are currently dying because of US negligence. But just like in the past, we will wait until it's too late, and that death and misery crosses overseas and effects us directly.
@Roundandroundwego That's funny, Trump is trying to broker peace deals globally, which is pissing off Pentagon Generals left and right, which is what got JFK taken out when he started pulling advisors out of Vietnam.
@NativePortlander1970 trade wars and gimmee gimmmeee gimmmeee with massive military buildups in every region - that's the way you do peace! Lolz booooom! Very peaceful - only if it's in a certain Western capitol with an orange war biz buff doing the gutting and cutting!
@NativePortlander1970 This is what people here don't understand. It's not the 19th century anymore. We have precision warfare that civillians have no chance against.
@SinlessOnslaught The only reason why Vietnam and Afghanistan kicked our asses is because they both had thousands of years to perfect home advantage guerilla warfare tactics.
