Does all this global tension mean that if the USA is attacked, no one will help?

There are lots of people here who see what our government is doing, we're not all bad... Then again I do understand my own country is abandoning other people while they're attacked. I hate this.

no one would help America to begin with

This is why Americans are always complaining about our funds being misappropriated to countries that hate us and don’t deserve our funding.

Everyone hates us until it’s time to ask for money. Like Ukraine for example. Now all of Europe is angry because they have to pay for their own war instead of us doing it

We have one of the strongest if not the strongest military in the world along side of being one of the wealthiest if not the wealthiest country.

It wouldn’t be in anyone’s best interest to attack the United States
@DeluxedEdition Everybody doesn't hate us. There are extremists around the world from every faction/group and our media blows it out of proportion to make us think that a handful of people represent an entire nation or continent. It's a lie.

There are innocent women and children dying at the hands of a powerful military and we just say, "Meh, they don't deserve our help." It's horrible.

@DeluxedEdition i agree

What is shocking is that they are spitting thwir dummies out now that America is asking for a level playing field

@SinlessOnslaught this comment was very insightful thank you

As a small child I never comprehended war. Even as an adult I still can’t comprehend it. People are starving to death, they don’t have enough medication but we’re building nuclear weapons killing each other over bureaucracy and land and sometimes even resources
@DeluxedEdition Thanks for saying that, I'm glad I could say something you found insightful.

The resource factor is always at play. War would not exist without resources. These horrible things happen to innocent people who just want to get away. It's the rich and powerful who want resources to keep it all going.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@DeluxedEdition why would anyone attack the US, you have nothing anyone wants.
@SpudMuffin I mean, we have resources, and it's not like we've never been attacked before.

@SinlessOnslaught 9/11? NATO helped you then.
Pearl Harbour? It took a direct attack to get you into that war, but better late than never, I suppose! 🤣

@SpudMuffin @MasterLee Expansionist countries like Russia and China will not stay away from us. History repeats itself.

@DeluxedEdition Our defense budget is now larger than the entire 1987 budget, it practically doubled overnight after 9/11.

@SinlessOnslaught You don't think I know this???

[quoteThis is people's LIFE on the line. Do you know what war is? You heard of this thing called war? Men being kidnapped (not recruited like you think happened here in the US) to go lay in a ditch for days and get shot at and bombed and watch their friends get blown to pieces in front of them, civilians and POW's running for their life in the crossfire, children being beheaded, women being "ethnically cleansed" in public, people burning alive while their family watches and is likely also starving to death. It's UGLIER than anything else on this Earth.

ALL OF THAT is on the line, there are people who genuinely cannot escape it, and you two are here demanding respect and credit in return for helping them, OR ELSE!!! You get so butthurt that you leave them in the dust. That is NEXT STEP DOWN from actually doing those awful things to them.
[/quote]

You say this, but then seemingly support escalation of this war against Russia. You think that makes things better? You think LESS people will die or be injured if we escalate the war? You think things get better for the Ukranians if the conflict is escalated?

If you truly believe war is hell, why are you siding with the people that want to escalate it???

And I'm not asking for anything other than the US to STOP PAYING for this war.

@SumKindaMunster I just got done saying in the other thread (I believe you said you can't see it anymore) that Russia has almost no history of ever honoring any peace deal. Trump has been on record talking about how well the phone calls with Putin are going while Russia still actively occupies Ukraine and even escalates the next day. This is just the tip of the iceberg. How much proof does an entity need to provide that it can't be trusted, before we see it?

@SumKindaMunster The treaty you're referring to is the Budapest Memorandum in 1994, not the same time period as WWII, and it was broken by Russia when they invaded Ukraine. Somehow Americans still think we can work out a peace deal and that aiding Ukraine is "escalating" instead of standing up for innocent people against school bombings.

That last part is the reason I'm taking this conversation in this direction. You told me I want to "escalate" the war when Russia already escalated it.

@DeluxedEdition As @SpudMuffin indicated, NATO came to the defense of the United States in the hours, days, and weeks following the attacks of 9/11. We (the USA) are the only member state to ever invoke Article 5 of the North Atlantic treaty and our European allies had planes in the air within hours and were flying CAP missions (combat air patrol) up and down the east coast of the US & Canada to protect us from potential follow on attacks. NATO is a MUTUAL defense pact. They held up their side without question.
@SumKindaMunster Yes, everything you just said backs up my point. The West effectively just said, "Okay Russia, you win, break the treaty and kill more people than you already have" while simultaneously funding genocide in other areas of the world. Is that okay with you?
