I Live In The United States

Just a thought, how do you feel about removing "under God" from the pledge of allegiance, removing "in God we trust" from the money, and changing the US's motto to "E Pluribus Unum"? I like hearing different opinions on this :)

O.K. gang tell me which of our founding fathers was not a Christian? Which mosque or temple did they attend I'll give you a clue any faith outside of Judaism and Christianity were look upon by our forefathers as either pagan or heathen. They had no concept other than the colonies would become a Christian nation Although liberals will claim it is not true the founding of this nation was based on Christian principles. The declaration of independence, the original constitution and the bill of rights were all written from a Christian perspective. A lot has changed since then and I highly doubt our forefathers would recognize this nation as the one they intended.

Total coincidence that all those people were MUSLIM.

Right, Reno?

It's funny you never got to that child marriage thing Reno.

Did it not post on your device?

Maybe I better repeat this.

The conservative Christian lawmakers in 28 states quietly passed legislation making child rape a crime equal to or WORSE than murder ... but said its ok if they are married. No crime.

Are these the Christian principles you refer to?

A few of those states have set the possible punishment at DEATH.

But it's no crime at all as long as they are married.

I guess the fact that it mirrors GOD'S Old Testament law is another coincidence.

Anyway, true Christians would NEVER support child marriage.

Right Reno?

Precisely, Renobenteen. And, if they were not, "by their Creator" would appear nowhere in our founding documents...

Christians hijacked our government and our society.

Putting 'In God We Trust' on our money was a blatant breach of the wall set in place to keep church and state separate.

Putting this on our money was a de facto endorsement of Christianity by the federal government.

Christians argue that it doesn't SPECIFICALLY endorse Christianity, when members of society raise objections.

Yet at the same time, when they are trying to pass legislation that acknowledges Christianity, they refer to the money as EVIDENCE that we already are a Christian nation.

This federal endorsement of Christianity has the effect of validating and authenticating Christianity.

It's just one more of the many methods Christians use as part of their overall indoctrination and to prop up the religion.

I agree, and I thank you for your response.

Morally and ethically there should be NO Pledge whatsoever.

It is indoctrination. The purpose is to raise little nationalistic puppets who will go along with anything the government tells them.

Obviously it is not 100 % effective, but it IS effective. Adding God to the Pledge validates the idea that our country can do no wrong. God being perfect, the association implants the sense that our nation is too.

By the same token, it is an affirmation and validation of God's existence.

Children want to be part of the group. They don't want to be excluded ... outcasts. The Pledge pressures children into conforming.

I agree. I was told by a teacher in high school that saying the pledge wasn't required and you can't get in trouble for not saying it. From then on, I really looked at what the pledge was saying. I hadn't really thought of it before Since then, I only stand out of respect but I never say it anymore.

Disregard for tradition leads to cultural downfall, as we are currently witnessing in most states. To remove that from our culture would be most disrespectful to our forefathers and what they stood for. Listen to the Battle Hymn of the Republic (one of the most important songs to the Union in our Civil War) and try to come up with a single reason that God does not hold an important place in our nation (: If you can do that without any logical fallacies or factual inaccuracies in your reasoning, I would be truly impressed and would probably change my view!

the forefathers had nothing g to do with the pledge. it wasn't even written until after 1900 and the words "under god" were put in by congress in 1954.
salveteamicis
(and I am aware that "In God We Trust" was not our de jure motto until the 20th century, but that motto effectively described American culture in a de facto manner prior to it's de jure instatement)

And here are some lyrics directly from that song I mentioned, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, to solidify my stance: "In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me.
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on."

terrible Idea. USA is blessed because in God we trust.

What I mean by "god", is what ever you love. "Where your treasure is there your heart is also" Luke 12:34

lol
Faeriegrrl · 26-30, F
I see. We have different definitions of god, as do many people throughout the country(and the world). Why not do away with the confusion and keep any reference to "god" out of the government completely? There is supposed to be that separation anyway.
TheMasterLee
it was thar way pre 1954. We should repeal those laws and return to reality.
Faeriegrrl · 26-30, F
Yes, I agree :)

Seeing the Eagle's head rotated back towards the arrows on our Great Seal would be nice...
