I Live In The United States

Just a thought, how do you feel about removing "under God" from the pledge of allegiance, removing "in God we trust" from the money, and changing the US's motto to "E Pluribus Unum"? I like hearing different opinions on this :)

Morally and ethically there should be NO Pledge whatsoever.

It is indoctrination. The purpose is to raise little nationalistic puppets who will go along with anything the government tells them.

Obviously it is not 100 % effective, but it IS effective. Adding God to the Pledge validates the idea that our country can do no wrong. God being perfect, the association implants the sense that our nation is too.

By the same token, it is an affirmation and validation of God's existence.

Children want to be part of the group. They don't want to be excluded ... outcasts. The Pledge pressures children into conforming.

I agree. I was told by a teacher in high school that saying the pledge wasn't required and you can't get in trouble for not saying it. From then on, I really looked at what the pledge was saying. I hadn't really thought of it before Since then, I only stand out of respect but I never say it anymore.
