Nigel Farage "goes on strike"

Announces that he will no longer attend Prime Minister's question time and sat in the press gallery to protest against the "most unrepresentative parliament ever".

The cause of his complaint? Despite his funny little sidekick Richard Tice bobbing up and down to catch the Speaker's attention, Reform UK are rarely called upon to ask a question. The reason being that they hold just 5 seats in the House of Commons. Out of 650.

But they do have a very popular TikTok account, which in Farage's eyes counts for more than parliamentary representation.

It's a good job that he announced he was going on strike on national TV as his Clacton-on-Sea constituents probably would not have noticed the difference otherwise.

The Caerphilly candidate who narrowly lost to Plaid Cymru who is one of Nigel Farage's rising stars has been seen crying hear today in Caerphilly.

@FreddieUK I am quite sure that Labour's "Red Wall" in South Wales is over it seems according to yesterday's By-election Labour voters defected to Reform the numbers add up.

Plaid Cymru will rule Wales (what a shock this is) Wales overnight will be like Scotland the Nationalist will take over.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@senghenydd It seems to me he did remarkably well. And I recall your saying, on the day of the election, that it was a two-horse race between Plaid Cymru and Labour!
senghenydd · M
@MartinII For the last Hundred years Labour has dominated Caerphilly in fact South Wales the previous election was between Labour and Plaid Cymru with Reform only polling 496 votes as a follower of these elections I didn't think it was possible for Reform to come second, I was so wrong.

I some how missed you reply and only noticed it now.

I don't think he's looking for validation as an independent so much as 'wanting' to be seen as a potential Conservative Party leader in waiting.

Doing (or getting away with) this 'spoilt brat' routine. Being seen as the MOST right-wing. The MOST 'patriotic'. The MOST outspoken on issues that may or may not exist in a right-wingers 'reality' (most of them don't in everybody else's) explains his 'poor me' playing at politics

@Picklebobble2 I listen to all Politicans and their Manifestos we are being over-run with people coming into our country from abroad we can accept people who prove they have a well-founded fear of being persecuted back in their own countries for reasons of Religion, Nationality, Political Opinion, or membership in a particular group.

Greece now 10% of it's population who are illegals we should be doing more to protect our country i am sitting on the fence and have an open mind
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@senghenydd Well that's an easy fix.
Depending on just how forcefull you're determined to be.

Forget detention centres or immigration centres at sea. (Currently propsed)
Just put naval gun boats within the 12 mile start of the accepted border with the order destroy anything that comes within it.

@Picklebobble2 The Late Duke of Windsor once said on visiting Hengoed South Wales "Something Must Be Done" there were so many un-employed there.

I was part of a group a few years ago who supported Asylum Seekers I have to say I think we were taken advantage of, we have a problem some of them are illegal and should be returned to their home countries only we aren't doing that.

He's an embarrassment to the UK. He promised to leave the country if Brexit failed but, thus far, he hasn't even kept that promise. He has Belgian citizenship (so he could keep an EU passport), they're wlcome to keep him there.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Sharon Most of this doesn't deserve a reply, but your comment about the covid vaccine is disgraceful.Vulnerable people in the EU carried on dying for longer than was necessary.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl No, the bus was certainly misleading. But it made no promise.
Sharon · F
@MartinII The EU was just being more cautious. If there had been problems with the vaccine, far more people would have died.
Hard to believe this joke of a man is still around.

I still remember his "old man yelling at the sea" youtube videos from about 10 years ago. Clearly after a few pints and babbling about conspiracy theories of the French sneaking in boats of migrants because he could see boats.....on the ocean.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow He is just about the most inauthentic politician I can think of. I cannot imagine why people humiliate themselves by publicly supporting him. He has dual nationality children by a German ex-wife and cheated on property tax by buying a house in the name of his current French partner. No one is allowed to comment on his multi-national family, but he is able to make the most outrageous judgements on who does or does not belong to our nation. A nation that he continuously talks down to his friends in Washington and Moscow, and to which he contributes practically nothing.
@SunshineGirl With men like Farrage nationality is not so much an issue as skin tone.
@SunshineGirl And his Russian friends all seem to be from his failed "career" as a business commentator on early Russia Today programs.
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
Good. He needs to sit down and be quiet. Hope he stays on strike.
Lugwho · 61-69, M
He'll probably be spending more time in Clacton 🙄

Unfortunately he is probably right about Parliament being unrepresentative.

@ninalanyon It's not ideal, but the same rules apply to every party. The Lib Dems managed to get their largest number of seats ever through a reputation for competent local government, focusing limited resources on their heartlands, and cooperating with other parties.
senghenydd · M
@ninalanyon Yes and no, Farage did get the UK out of the EU, I voted to leave for every pound the UK put into the EU we got 25p back not a good arrangement no no no.
KatyO83 · 41-45, F
Isn't he the worst attendance of any sitting mp?

Jesus the guys a total fraud.
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl He's found that governing isn't easy, whining is. 😅
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@ineedadrink He's a master at that. Campaigns to take the UK out of Europe, then when that damages GDP and makes it more difficult to secure national borders, blames others for not doing Brexit right.
@KatyO83 Sitting in the public gallery of the HoC doesn't count as attending the House either.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
He would fit into American politics. trump would probably give him whatever job he would be unqualified for.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Crazywaterspring He spends more time sucking up to his "good friend" Trump than he does in his own constituency. His party's policies are a lazy re-hash of MAGA . . which is an odd look for a supposed nationalist.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl Maybe he's hoping trump will offer him a job in case he isn't reelected.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Crazywaterspring I think Trump only values him as an irritant on the British political scene. Farage arguably wielded more political power as an agitator outside parliament than now he is an elected MP and has responsibilities.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
He immediately resigned from the No when it won but kept his MEP place
Useless git
