What would happen if funds to Ukraine were stopped completely ?

helenS · 36-40, F
Russia would become a more serious threat to America.
revenant · F
@hippyjoe1955 ahahah but one keeps the printing press busy !
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@revenant Pretty soon Canada will be Venezuela and not be able to afford the paper/plastic to print it on. Maybe that is the idea behind digital currency. It costs nothing to create.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@helenS Actually would you believe ww3??.....
BlueVeins · 22-25
Presumably, the war would grind to a halt, as Russia would lack the numbers to advance, but Ukraine would lack the steel to break up Russia's positions. From there, Russia would go back to bombarding civilian targets with the limited artillery they can still supply, while Ukraine would launch artillery at Russian positions.

Ukraine's economy would further weaken over the course of the next several years. Power outages and foot shortages would grow progressively worse and investment in industry would have completely stalled out. Russia would slowly creep westward, and would at that point have to choose between annihilating the civilian populace or fighting a decades-long guerilla war against organized militias. In either case, we'd see civilian deaths totaling in the millions, and a refugee crisis which would make Syria's look like a joke.
tindrummer · M
@samueltyler2 russia? right
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@tindrummer yes, Iran is supplying loads of weapons to Russia.

Abstraction · 61-69, M
Putin would realise his theory that the west is weak, disunified and will eventually always ultimately capitulate is correct. His army is in a mess currently but whether he continues now or after a ceasefire he will continue efforts until he takes Ukraine. If you read his own words about his view on Ukraine, its history and what should happen it's quite clear he considers it part of Russia.

More immediately: Ukraine is a much better run army, better soldiers, stronger morale and even with fewer numbers Russia has been unable to defeat them. However, when you run out of ammunition you run out of fight. Ukraine has had an invading army almost completely destroy their economy, entire areas laid waste, farming stopped in major fertile areas, exports blocked, infrastructure destroyed, countless refugees. Russia has only had to battle sanctions and they've gotten around them to a significant extent - their country virtually untouched. It's obvious what would happen.
revenant · F
@Abstraction I am hearing the opposite actually but the optics are not good. Ukraine is not the strong party at all.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@revenant The opposite to which thing that I said?
- What I said about Putin is in the public record. It is substantially evidenced by their hasty conversion of occupied territories to being part of Russia and their systematic destruction of Ukrainian cultural and historical centres.
- If you think Russia is winning I have no idea what source believes that. Not even the Russians do. Their invasion was catastrophically managed. They took ground until the Ukrainians received outside military equipment to match - and to some extent outmatch. The record of Russian failures, the current state of the war is not even secret. They pushed forward recently a small amount in Bakhmut at massive cost. One town.
- The damage to Ukraine is a matter of record.
- That Russia has managed to get around sanctions to some extent - largely thanks to India, China, Turkey and a few others - is a matter of public record.
I think your sources are victims of propaganda. This is not an isolated conflict with no-one present to report. It's highly public from every view including satellite. Which part of what I said do you need verification for?
Russia began this and could stop now. Ukraine cannot.
It would be more prone for Russia to attack other European countries. Also a big question for brexit. Many things were pre-planned and 2020 just gave it a face lift.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 Aw what a cute widdle boy you are wearing your team colors win lose or draw. Consider your cheeks pinched even if only remotely.
tindrummer · M
@Tres13 why is that tough guy?

@revenant
Anything to stop putin.
He is the worst thing to come from russia since stalin. NATO makes Europe safe and it is good there is a leader like Joe Biden to lead. trump couldn’t lead NATO; they don’t even like him let alone he got laughed at when he addressed the United Nations.
revenant · F
@Pfuzylogic I think we shall soon see who is the winner anyway. We will see how good or bad those poor ukrainians soldiers fare after the Bahkmut battle. Last I heard they are trapped in the cauldron.
Pfuzylogic · M
@revenant
I hear there is a 7 to 1 casualty ratio with Russia on the losing side of casualties.
This will be a long drawn out battle.
revenant · F
@Pfuzylogic CNN....
Nanoose · 61-69, M
The Ukraine people would keep fighting the Russians with sticks and stones if they had to until they drove the Russians out of their country. Cheers!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@tindrummer yes, i interpreted your comment as beautiful n opposed to continued support. Perhaps SW has gotten to me.
Nanoose · 61-69, M
@tindrummer Oh I don't know about that. If you factor in heart and love of country the Ukraine's could defeat Russian with sticks and stones. But they probably wouldn't have to do that for long - instead of destroying Russia equipment they would start capturing it and using it against the Russians. Cheers!
tindrummer · M
@Nanoose ummm, ok - whatever
disagree
masterofyou · 70-79, M
Probably they would have peace talks.... Why are we supplying money and arms when the Europeans are not, dollar for dollar not making any commitment for matching funds????
revenant · F
@masterofyou The world has changed and people do not think about WW wars. They are like everybody else and want to live their life peacefully but they are being dragged into a conflict which they feel they have nothing to do with. Add to that all the Covid madness, loss of jobs, rapidly changing world, inflation,energy crisis, climate change, lgbt rights, refugees, Syrian war...and now..that ! total fatigue.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@revenant we have sacrificed our brave men to be killed mamed for the world for countries that not only won't ever help us, but actually hate us. And im very agaist my tax money going to help or fight any more foreign wars so let the Europeans start funding
and fighting their own wars....

We spent trillions of dollars on Afghanistan not even trying win and what do we have to show for it.

Tired of being hated by the rest of the world and having to pay for it too....
revenant · F
@masterofyou The US has a lot of good things. Foreign propaganda is kind of merciless.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
What is happening to Ukraine is sad but it's not our problem and our government is 26.5 trillion dollars in debt. We shouldn't be bribing any foreign governments.
revenant · F
@hunkalove agree. It is not Joe on the street's problem.
Pfuzylogic · M
@revenant
that is why we have Joe is President!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@hunkalove do you not understand how we got this deep in debt? What percentage of the national debt is accounted for or between 2017 and 2020??
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Europe would piss and moan that they cannot afford it.
revenant · F
@helenS they are going to go up very quickly again. Don't you have an energy crisis in the UK ? Thank god this winter has been remarkably mild though.
helenS · 36-40, F
@revenant Not sure about the UK (which has expelled itself from Europe), but on the Continent I cannot see any signs of an energy crisis.
revenant · F
@helenS I am getting different voices then. Apparently vegetables, fruits and such are hard to find in British supermarkets. Some sort of avian flu ? yeah right..
Tminus6453 · M
zelensky would expose biden and the democrats criminal empire in ukraine
revenant · F
@Tminus6453 ahhhhh...that is very possible !😎
Fungirlvape · 61-69, F
My guess is total occupation of Ukraine by Russia and an immediate attack upon Poland.
tindrummer · M
@Fungirlvape probably not immediate but yeah
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
It is rather late in the game but it may allow Ukraine to continue to exist as a country. So long as Russia thinks that Ukraine is a threat Russia will continue to slaughter Ukrainian soldiers. Things are really ugly there and we should all be seeking peace.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@revenant Sadly this is a meaningless war that the neocons in Washington have pushed using things like the nazis in Ukraine to slaughter ethnic Russians living in Ukraine. Yes there are real nazis living in Ukraine. They follow the example of Stepan Banderas who decades ago hated Russians for what Stalin did to ethnic Ukrainians during the Holodomor. What Stalin did was reprehensible and what the AZOV battalion was doing was just as reprehensible. Mass slaughter is mass slaughter no matter who is doing it. Right now the Ukrainian armed forces has been decimated and the nation of Ukraine may well never recover. Not that the neocons care but what is really going to bite is that power has shifted from the US and NATO to Russia and China. The US has lost this war and lost it very very badly with consequences we can only speculate about.
revenant · F
@hippyjoe1955 The Left totally denies the presence of the Nazis in Ukraine and the killings of Russian civilians. They say it is " all made up '.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@revenant Yeah the left needs to learn that denial is not a river in Africa. There are real nazis in Ukraine and they were slaughtering innocent civilians whose ethnicity is Russian.
Pfuzylogic · M
That would mean our whole country is in trouble because trump hijacked an election.
Pfuzylogic · M
@revenant
trump doesn’t come from a point of strength he tends to beg first when it comes to other leaders especially dictators.
revenant · F
@Pfuzylogic hmmmm. Other leaders respect him and do not mess around.
Pfuzylogic · M
@revenant
Who? dictators like turkey and North Korea and putin. We need someone to stomp putin in the ground.
He is a squirmy little weasel!!
Self-explanatory. Many would die on both sides, Putin would roll over Ukraine and sight down on the next target.
@revenant I don't know. We don't talk.
tindrummer · M
@revenant He's already openly threatening the Baltic Republics, Finland, Poland and Moldava
BlueVeins · 22-25
@revenant Moldova
Belarus
Kazakhstan
Georgia

Going around attacking their neighbors is pretty much just standard behavior for Russia under Putin.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
Hunter’s Barisma would collapse
Tres13 · 51-55, M
@BizSuitStacy You got it BC
Rainandforest · 22-25, F
Isn't that good? Zelensky draining US resources lol wait.. i'm not even americans
tindrummer · M
@Rainandforest draining russian resources which is great
Skitzo · 56-60, M
They haven't gotten any funding from FJB anyway. The legal term is called "money laundering", "extortion ".
Fairydust · F
It would die off like monkey pox did lol 😆
Pfuzylogic · M
@Fairydust
and Europe would follow.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Russia would conquer Ukraine
SW-User
A flawless victory for Russia
eli1601 · 70-79, M
The EU would sh*t bricks
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
Ukraine would be defeated either way
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
what country do you represent?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 Personally I am on the side of the lesser loss of life. In this case Ukraine started Ethnic Cleansing by killing thousands of ethnic Russians living in Ukraine. I don't agree with the Russian meat grinder form of war where they are slaughtering Ukrainian soldiers but I have yet to figure out why Ukraine keeps sending is very depleted forces into such a pointless conflict. Sue for peace and try to live in harmony. Ukraine get rid of your Nazis. Russia withdraw to your previous borders. US and NATO go away and honor the Minsk Accords.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@hippyjoe1955 I didn't ask you, you are clearly Putin's pawn. Russia says its previous borders go all the way west or have you not heard Putin's rhetoric! .
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 I am no one's pawn. I despise all wars equally. I am simply pointing out that there is enough evil to taint every nation involved. Your rabid team player attitude won't get you very far in life son. Learn to question.
