Europe would piss and moan that they cannot afford it.

@MasterLee they depend on Russian oil and gas supplies.

No longer true – Russia lost the energy wars. Its attempts to hold Europe to ransom over energy have failed. EU had repositioned itself and freed itself from dependence on Russian energy. Russia's income from sales of gas to Europe has shrunk by two-thirds. The oil price cap means that Russia is losing Eur160 million in revenue every day. Gas prices in Europe are lower today than before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and Europe is now investing in clean energies and energy independence as never before. 👍

@helenS Can you tell me why europeans are paying more and more on their energy bills ?
helenS · 36-40, F
@revenant We aren't. Energy prices have been on the decrease for quite a while now. For example, gasoline cost EUR 1.65/L in Germany in 2012, peaked at EUR 1.95 in late 2022 and are now back to about EUR 1.70.

@helenS they are going to go up very quickly again. Don't you have an energy crisis in the UK ? Thank god this winter has been remarkably mild though.
helenS · 36-40, F
@revenant Not sure about the UK (which has expelled itself from Europe), but on the Continent I cannot see any signs of an energy crisis.

@helenS I am getting different voices then. Apparently vegetables, fruits and such are hard to find in British supermarkets. Some sort of avian flu ? yeah right..
