So in your opinion whatever Russia asks we are just supposed to do? That is just a ridiculous position. NATO isn’t perfect but it is very helpful in assuring the defense of those who would be attacked by regimes like Putins! There is only one country at fault for the situation in Ukraine…that would be Russia.

@MarmeeMarch that is of course their choice but they are sovereign countries and can make their own decisions…I certainly would not advocate for invading Canada!

Russia held the Warsaw pact against their will with their military rolling tanks every time they got out of line. Hungary and Czechoslovakia, for example. At the first chance those countries got they fled Russian influence and flocked to the West for protection from the imperialistic Russians. For good reason too....as evidenced by the unbridled aggression the Russians are trying in Ukraine. When the subjugated nations can they flee.

The days of the Russians dictating what independent nations do are over. Those nations have a say in what they do. Every one of them has a history that taught them what Russian hegemony means and they decided they want nothing to do with it.

Putin asked the west to dissolve nato in return.@samueltyler2

Bull. The Soviet Union impossed the Warsaw Pact on Eastern Europe and held then used their military to keep them under Soviet control. All of the countries that have joined NATO did so voulentarily to protect themselves from falling under Russian control. Learn some history idiot.

@momof3wifeof173 nato was supposed to be dissolved learn some history idiot
Bartleby · 51-55, M
@Ferise1 Hi, historian here. The USSR and Russia were never promised NATO would dissolve nor was it considered. This myth goes back to Gorbachev saying he was “tricked” about NATO expansion but he later reversed himself. Suggest you read the now unclassified transcripts between James Baker and Gorbachev from 1990.

@Justenjoyit let us not lump all Russians as pro-Putin, i am more optimistic about humans, i hope when Putin is deposed, the country will respond more pro-humanity and worldly.

The CSTO is equivalent to NATO and they don’t honor it even though it is still in effect. so they have an alliance, the problem is that it is pathetic.
Eternity · 26-30, M
Russia struck first and at a weaker nation at that. They are the aggressor, they are at fault, and I hope Ukraine grinds the Russian military down to a nub.

Fuck the Russian government.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Eternity no they didn’t. It’s western provocation
Eternity · 26-30, M
@Ferise1 the west is no virgin mary that is for sure, but that doesn't make what russia is doing right nor even tolerable.
