Would you support US involvement in the Iran war no matter how many American lives were lost?

If it depends, how many American lives are worth it before you wouldn’t support it?

If a war is just and critical to national security, this question does not arise. War is (or should be) a serious business. You weigh up your options and assess the appetite of your people for prolonged engagement before you start a conflict.
@sarabee1995 it isn’t just a philosophical question. The justification for WWI was in my opinion rather flimsy and nonsensical compared to that for WWII …as just one example.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@BiasForAction WWII wouldn't have been justifiable without WWI, so senseless wars just set the stage for more crap down the line.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@BiasForAction Absolutely. WWI was ridiculous. And WWII would never have happened if it weren't for WWI.

@GeistInTheMachine More than wouldn't have been justifiable, there wouldn't even have been a "Third Reich" if it weren't for WWI. The Pacific Theatre would've been a regional conflict.

As long as its only Americans. They voted for him...😷

@BiasForAction We are good. (In case you thought we werent.) I dont have a side. (Or a dog in this fight, being an outsider) I just follow the money and the economics. And the direction America has been on for decades is non productive. In fact, there are many parallels between how America has been going and how trump conducts his businesses. I wont speculate of how the American people see that. But the numbers dont lie..😷

"So now for over a decade, nothing is actually getting done in America and the place is going to pot. (Literally in some states) And here is where the fun starts."

Well, as Lincoln so aptly said, "If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher."

"Americas terrible performance during Covid was splashed globally, although I guess you didnt hear too much about how much better other nations were doing."

In fact, the Covid death rate in the US was only slightly worse than that of the UK (about 3600 per million vs 3400/million), so not exactly "terrible."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_death_rates_by_country

"The world is leaving America behind. And it used to be a nice place."

As I recall, the world didn't do particularly well when America was isolationist ("Avoid foreign entanglements," George Washington advised.)

@Thinkerbell That Lincoln was a pretty cluey guy.

I think we need to start looking at casualties in the totality of all lives lost, not just those on our side.

Looking back at our involvement in Iraq, the casualty count was (of course) very lopsided. And nobody talks about the total numbers. (Yes, I just saw some numbers recently and was more than a little surprised.)
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@GeistInTheMachine Oh gawd ... did my soft side show?? I need to keep that in check! ;) /s
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@sarabee1995 Yes. They won't accept you at the Agency with that pinko attitude.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@GeistInTheMachine Well not that Agency, but there are others! ;)
BooksRMe · 46-50, M
I don't support this whole thing in any way shape or form.
Iran/Persia has been around for a long, long time. You can be damn sure they're not about to roll over so easily.

More truth!
Pfuzylogic · M
I was ready to stop when we killed 160 school girls ages 7-12.
Then the people responsible are hiding.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Pfuzylogic The person probably responsible refuses to contemplate that American missiles could possibly have been connected with this disaster.
GoFish ·
what are you trying to say?
@GoFish I’m not saying anything I’m asking—taking a survey if you will
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
Do you support WW11? The U.S. lost 400,000 ! Was it worth it?
@fanuc2013 I suppose I can infer your answer to my question but I’d rather you just answer it directly as no two wars are ever the same
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
War should be the last resort not the first
Bumbles · 56-60, M
This war is already a huge mistake.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
If US elites want, they can go ahead send all their American soldiers in and see what happens in the mountains of Iran. If they want to create a bloody blunder of pawns on national news that is fine by me.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
This is not a war. Trump now says it's an excursion.

ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
I don't support war at all
DDonde · 31-35, M
I already don't support the war.
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
I feel like too many lives have been lost already. If they're going to go ahead with this, they need a better strategist in charge.
CreyvinMoorhead · 41-45, M
Why,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, should I care !

Trump does not
@CreyvinMoorhead I’m really puzzled by this answer
CreyvinMoorhead · 41-45, M
@BiasForAction understandable, your a yankee
