Absolutely! No foreign nation has any business owning an inch of this country.

Thank you for Best Answer. :)

@AbbeyRhode You're on a roll!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I am not American, neither by nationality nor residency, but I agree, for America's sake. China needs be kept in check.

I can understand China buying large money-making industries, especially competitors to their own, or to take the intellectual-property.

I can understand foreign investors in city property (they invest for their, not their hosts', benefit).

Why does the People's Republic of China want to buy rural farms, though? To send all the produce back home? Or for some other reason?
@4meAndyou Tbf, I listed my source because I sincerely wanted to know. But if you’re not willing to accept anything that differs from what you already believe (The Patriot Post has a hard right bias—it’s opinion-based and certainly not neutral), then I’m wasting my time on your post. Which is good to know.

For the record, I’m not a fan of China and I’d be fine if they didn’t own land here. But they already do, and if Trump wants to take away what their companies have already paid for, I can see bigger problems on the horizon. 🤷🏽‍♀

@bijouxbroussard I think in this instance, it is okay NOT to trust Chinese sources.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou I would not normally trust them but a firm of solicitors is unlikely to give legal advice that goes against the law. Especially in a country like China.
3Dogmatic · 46-50, M
I agree completely
They owned and ran a lab in California that was involved in virus work. By good fortune a California worker stumbled upon it and reported it. It was a clandestine lab .
With as much land as China has and the technology they have ( they’re not sloths in regard to innovative technologies), one needs to ask and know why they need to purchase land here. And some is near military installations. Hmm.

Sounds reasonable.
In fact, it’s kind of moot…
China owns approximately 383,934 acres of land in the U.S., which is less than 1% of all foreign-held land. This ownership is primarily through corporations, with a significant portion held by Smithfield Foods, a major pork processor.
This amount is relatively small compared to other countries, with Canada owning the most foreign land in the U.S.

I was curious whether or not Americans could buy land in China and was surprised that even though, as a Communist country (where land is state-owned and even Chinese citizens may not privately own land), there are exceptions:

No, Americans cannot own land in China as all land is owned by the state. However, they can purchase property under certain conditions, such as having lived in China for at least one year.

China had a stake in 383,935 acres of U.S. land as of 2021, which is less than 1% of all foreign-held land in U.S. "China’s investments in foreign agriculture are largely driven by its desire to build food self-sufficiency." - Michigan State’s Ortega

@ABCDEF7 Unfortunately, of all foreign landowners, China continues to buy farmland adjacent to our military bases.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
They already own plenty of Australia
@Thevy29 even the politicians 😏
Their consulates and embassy are enough .
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou Despite the risks to themselves, too, presumably.
@ArishMell You’ve got as reported 3 000 mosques in the UK. You think your PM is going to refuse the CCP’s request? Rest assured if there is something “ in it” for him, permission will be given to build/ expand.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@soar2newhighs It does not work like that in the UK.

Mosques are places of worship not embassies, are paid for by their congregations. (Islam has no central organisation like the Churches of Rome and or England do, although Muslims in Britain have their "Muslim Council").

Embassies are paid for by by their own countries, and like mosques or factories or shops or houses building them need planning-permission usually administered at local or county level.

The Prime Minister is not involved in town planning; and there is "nothing in" any planning application for him or her.

The PM is not a President able to bypass Parliament, constitutional matters or laws, and cannot alone give or refuse a country permission to build an embassy. I do not know how that request is handled, but the planning laws refer to only the physical building.
can america own china farmland?..
give them a inch ,the rest is history ,
oldguy73 · 70-79, M

Cloud7593 · 46-50, F

4meAndyou · F
@Cloud7593 We certainly wouldn't be allowed to buy land in China!!!
