People making an argument that the cost of nuclear power could fund every private property in Australia getting solar + batteries

Why should Australian private property owners be forced/coerced into accepting solar ( with batteries) to make their house into a grid battery if they do not want to? Why can't property owners get solar (with batteries) and explicitly block/bar 'exporting' of electricity (either willingly or against their will)?

Same as why should EV drivers be forced/coerced into allowing their EV when plugged into to charge instead (via V2G) being used as a grid battery?

Why should Australian private property owners be forced/coerced into getting a 'smart' meter which will be used by governement, electricity grid operators, etc. to control your household power usage against your will.

No one should be coerced into anything. As for smart meters, I have one. And it doesnt spy on me. But the panels on my roof keep my electricity bill under $100 a month all year round.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman They're a new(er) type of smart meter. I've had an 'averaging' meter installed at a place I used to live at with my first ex in Sydney. But it's not 'smart' (ie. has no wireless function for remote access, monitoring and/or control). I have oldskool vane meters here and don't intend to ask to have them replaced though if I ever chose to get solar they'd need to be.

@whowasthatmaskedman Looks like there is a directive that all older meters have to get replaced by smart meters by 2030 - hmm so at some point my sexy old meters will get forcibly replaced whether I like it or not. Not happy about that. Less privacy - more control. grrrrr

@zonavar68 You could always move out back, off the grid and be wire free..Thats practical with panels, your own windmill and a battery now. It wasnt when i installed😷

No one is forcing or coercing you into doing anything. If you don't want to adapt to reasonable changes in technology, go off grid and don't use public transport infrastructure.

And don't believe everything you read online. There is no smart meter in Australia that could control your personal power consumption.

be\cause if not forced, i am afraid very few will consent. there are ways to encourage involvement that might not need the word, must!
