Dr. Oz, Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, accused of torturing dogs and other animals

An investigation by Columbia University had found that Dr. Mehmet Oz conducted experiments on over 1000 live animals, including over 300 dogs, without anesthesia and in violation of the Animal Welfare Act. A whistleblower revealed that Oz subjected dogs to what can only be described as gratuitous torture, even in cases where the experimental data was not usable.

Oz, a former heart surgeon and peddler of quack remedies on TV, was endorsed by former president Donald Trump in his Senate run against Democrat John Fetterman, Pennsylvania's Lieutenant Governor. Oz's campaign has been plagued by accusations of having no substantive connection to Pennsylvania (Oz lives in New Jersey), taking cheap shots at Fetterman's health and appearance (Fetterman prefers to appear in public in a hoodie and sporting tattoos), questions of loyalty (Oz, who was born in Turkey, holds dual U.S./Turkish citizenship and is an active member of the Turkish reserves), and gaffes like the famous ad where Oz is shown shopping in a supermarket whose name he gets wrong, and complains about high prices for "crudite." We can now add animal cruelty to the list. Polls show Oz trailing Fetterman by a significant margin.

Crudite, and now cruelty. What next are we going to find out about Oz? What a despicable human being.
@Byron8by7 Even if you support animal testing, this crosses the line. Columbia University was fined for this. I'm only surprised it took this long to come out.

He's been torturing viewers for years!!

A couple of things continue to be clear. The first is there's no bottom when it comes to GOP voters. The other is that con artists have found their political audience.
@Ynotisay ...*sigh*...yes.

Fetterman immediately issued a campaign ad showing him and his two dogs, and asked Pennsylvanians to bring their dogs to his next campaign event.

He hates trans people too..
@Chelsiegirl At least he does now. Oz used to be pro-choice, but is now anti-abortion, so he might have changed his stance on trans people too. He's a total opportunist.
@LeopoldBloom Thus, a person's whose values depend upon power, money...

He’s a Republican…wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest of that were true

Here goes another Republican head hunting again
@Jake966 You're ignoring all of the Democrats who have left office or gone to jail. Stop making excuses for Oz just because he's a Republican. That's cult behavior, where you think your side is being attacked and the other side gets away with everything.

Can you answer a question honestly? If Oz performed sadistic experiments on animals, is that OK with you because he has an "R" after his name?

@Jake966 this is a balanced list:

@SW-User Thanks!
WTF? He's THAT evil?
@SomeMichGuy You seem surprised.
@LeopoldBloom I knew he was dishonest about the quack "medicine" he ended up pushing, but torturing animals is lower than I thought he'd go.

That puts him with Mengele, etc.
I'm from hate-Sylvania and my family kept the taxidermist busy.
And squeezed small animals to death in front of me.
Guns? Y'uns can have a head start....
@Roundandroundwego And you're proud of that?

He is a joke as a doctor and a politician.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@LeopoldBloom exactly, he’s ruined his reputation now.
@LeopoldBloom This reminds me of how Ben Carson was actually a respected brain surgeon at one time. Until people found out more about him.
@bijouxbroussard Remember all the screaming about Planned Parenthood "selling baby parts for profit" because they recouped their costs when they provided fetal tissue to researchers? Guess who one of their customers was for that? Dr. Ben Carson purchased tissue of aborted fetuses from Planned Parenthood for his own research on at least two occasions.

I sincerely hope Walker's political career ends up in the same place Carson's is now. And no, I don't want him to have a cabinet post.

He is vile.

@MarmeeMarch I didn't say you said torturing animals is OK, but you're making excuses for Dr. Oz. So clearly you're fine with him torturing animals.

@MarmeeMarch He’s running for the senate in Pennsylvania. He’s a Republican and your orange savior endorsed him. The Democrat, John Fetterman, is kicking his ass at the moment.

If you didn’t know who he was, you should have kept your mouth shut instead of blathering about a nonexistent smear campaign.
