Dr. Oz, Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, accused of torturing dogs and other animals

An investigation by Columbia University had found that Dr. Mehmet Oz conducted experiments on over 1000 live animals, including over 300 dogs, without anesthesia and in violation of the Animal Welfare Act. A whistleblower revealed that Oz subjected dogs to what can only be described as gratuitous torture, even in cases where the experimental data was not usable.

Oz, a former heart surgeon and peddler of quack remedies on TV, was endorsed by former president Donald Trump in his Senate run against Democrat John Fetterman, Pennsylvania's Lieutenant Governor. Oz's campaign has been plagued by accusations of having no substantive connection to Pennsylvania (Oz lives in New Jersey), taking cheap shots at Fetterman's health and appearance (Fetterman prefers to appear in public in a hoodie and sporting tattoos), questions of loyalty (Oz, who was born in Turkey, holds dual U.S./Turkish citizenship and is an active member of the Turkish reserves), and gaffes like the famous ad where Oz is shown shopping in a supermarket whose name he gets wrong, and complains about high prices for "crudite." We can now add animal cruelty to the list. Polls show Oz trailing Fetterman by a significant margin.

He is a joke as a doctor and a politician.
@iamonfire696 He was actually a world-renowned heart surgeon at one time, but using his medical background to legitimize the sale of snake oil remedies is disgusting because people take him more seriously "because he's a doctor."

@LeopoldBloom exactly, he’s ruined his reputation now.
@LeopoldBloom This reminds me of how Ben Carson was actually a respected brain surgeon at one time. Until people found out more about him.
@bijouxbroussard Remember all the screaming about Planned Parenthood "selling baby parts for profit" because they recouped their costs when they provided fetal tissue to researchers? Guess who one of their customers was for that? Dr. Ben Carson purchased tissue of aborted fetuses from Planned Parenthood for his own research on at least two occasions.

I sincerely hope Walker's political career ends up in the same place Carson's is now. And no, I don't want him to have a cabinet post.
