These are often scammer created "coins" either made by scammers or magicians, given that most mints have processes in place to detect and filter out such obvious misstrikes in the event that it was possible for them to occur.

If you're lucky, you might be able to con a new collector into believing that you really got something worth a pretty penny - or a collector might take it just to get it out of circulation... some of us do take worthless coins like this just to prevent newbies from getting conned by them elsewhere in the market. I have a fake round £1 coin in my collection so that no one else will ever be conned into paying good money for it.

If you get a huge bet going, and use that coin, you could win a lot, just keep it hidden until the very last second, flip it, win, and swap the coin out. ;)

Novelty companies manufacture those and sell them for like five bucks. It might be worth more than that now, I don't know.
