It Is Literally Freezing Here, In Virginia!!!

Don't get me started on Global Climate Change! This is quite early for this time of year, for us!!! 🥶
Oster1 · M Pinned Comment
I'm so sorry, but I have a 9am Breakfast Meeting, and I am late!

Please keep this thread alive, and when I get back, I will answer everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, so much! Honestly, I couldn't keep up! You all, made my morning! 😊
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@Oster1 I would very much love that, but sadly that restaurant went out of business a month ago. 💔😢😢😢
Oster1 · M
@Musicman WHAT??? No way!!! Damn, this is so sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😔

I definitely understand though! Thanks Joe! Not!
Oster1 · M
@Musicman Even in Florida. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WillaKissing · 56-60
We are loving it here in Southern Ohio, just another long on the fire as I say!

And it is bow hunting season and the cooler temps make it awesome for me.

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@WillaKissing You know what I like best? Elk. They say cow elk is tops. Must have been cow elk I had a few times.Much better than beef.
WillaKissing · 56-60
@cherokeepatti Oh, my Lord try Moose if you can the deepest darkest and richest of them all. Delicious. Yes, Elk is my second favorite.
Briggett · T
@WillaKissing they’s a little too rich for my taste
AbbeyRhode · F
We have a frost warning here in Jersey for tomorrow night. Time to switch from iced to hot coffee! :)

Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@AbbeyRhode Noooooo! Not That! 😳 Head south immediately! Even with the cold spell it will still be 81 here today.
AbbeyRhode · F
@Musicman Wow, nice. :)
But the silver lining here is, the cold has killed off the Chinese Lanternflies. :)
Oster1 · M
@AbbeyRhode Thank you, for always commenting! You are so sweet and very special, Abbey.

You've ALWAYS been, one of my favorites! 😊🤗❤️

It hit early in Oklahoma, maybe not all that early but considering that we had a really warm September and it didn’t cool down much in Oklahoma like usual it hit us all at once. It takes time to adjust to cold weather. Had to pull out my winter gloves, scarfs, etc. to go outside yesterday.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Musicman only 81 F. 😂
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@cherokeepatti We are 67 degrees at the moment. I have to doors open and it's like having free air conditioning as a gentle breeze blows through the house.
Oster1 · M
@cherokeepatti Same here! 😊🌺
If you eat more bugs the weather will be gooder
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout the earwigs are trying to get inside now….yikes.
Oster1 · M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout But have you tried the new Chiton bacon? It is to 'die' for!!! 😋
but I've yet to hear a rational explanation of how miniscule increases in an atmospheric trace gas such as CO2, causes the earth to warm.
It's because CO2 & methane are transparent to visible light but more opaque to infrared. The solar energy comes pouring in via the visible spectrum, but the heat can't leave so easily via the infrared spectrum due to that opacity. Kids' version:
https://www.sciencenewsforstudents.org/article/explainer-co2-and-other-greenhouse-gases
idealized quantitative model: https://www.climate-policy-watcher.org/coriolis-force/a-simple-mathematical-model-of-the-greenhouse-effect.html

In order to actually prove human carbon emissions influence climate, all variables would have to remain constant
Nope. With multiple data points we can solve for multiple variables simultaneously. Detailed climate models account for all the variables you list and more. They are verified and calibrated based on 700,000 years of prior climate data.
http://web.mit.edu/globalchange/www/climate.html

Global warming models are based on small amounts of data. The earth is 4.6 billion years old, and we are expected to believe they can draw conclusions based on a hockey stick graph with 50 years of data?
Nope, not 50 years, 800,000 years, covering about 7 ice ages. The climate data comes from bubbles in glacial ice, and is corroborated by data from lake & sea floor sediments.
https://icecores.org/about-ice-cores
CO2 & methane & temp data

Here's where the various data sets were collected:

The most salient thing about the 800,000 years of climate data is the rate of change during those previous 7 ice ages compared to the current rate of change this century.

Where does the money for climate research come from?
Fair question - it comes mostly from the National Science Foundation. Equally fair: where does the money for climate denial come from? The US oil industry makes about $110 billion per year; coal another $20 billion. Big Oil spends $3.6 billion per year on advertising; a sum equal to about 8X the whole NSF climate budget. You're not naive enough to believe none of that money goes to propaganda, are you?

I'm in northern Wisconsin and for Halloween we got 4 inches of snow. Wanna trade
Tetsuya · 56-60, M
@HumanEarth are you using a wood stove or outdoor wood furnace?
as for my Wisconsin connection, I lived Milwaukee for a bit over a year and commuted all the way up to Kohler everyday to work at The American Club
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
@Tetsuya I have indoor wood furnace and two wood heat stoves upstairs.

I know Milwaukee very well. I used to lived there and I was born there and I'm leaving for Milwaukee today

Nice 4 hr drive should do me nicely

Kohler seen a few civil war reenactments there. Even been to the Wade house there
Oster1 · M
@HumanEarth No! Not yet, anyway. I can really appreciate, all or your hard work and preparation!😊
Tetsuya · 56-60, M
I'm in Richmond, it's 45, which I don't think is out of bounds for the first day of November morning
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@Tetsuya I have never been in a hot spring, but I have been in a hot tub with snow on the ground.
Oster1 · M
@Tetsuya Yeah, I know. Skiing at the Homestead, will be early, I think! ⛷️
Tetsuya · 56-60, M
@Oster1 Wintergreen too
Aysel · F
Wrap up well and get yourself some hot chocolate.
Oster1 · M
@Aysel Yes and a little bit, of fine Kentucky Bourbon! 😊😉
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
It is cold here in MD, too (near DC).
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
My mom and my older brother was born there....for me.. California. sadly I don't know how it's like in Virginia.

My mom said it's muggie and hot and sticky I wouldn't stand the Air Quality there.
Tetsuya · 56-60, M
@FreestyleArt the hot and humid is definitely the summer months everywhere east of the Blue Ridge but its nots bad when you get closer to the beach
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@FreestyleArt They called August the dog days of August. Every day that month would have a race to see if the temperature or the humidity would hit 100 first. Usually it was a tie. ☹️
Oster1 · M
@FreestyleArt Yes, but so much more to offer, throughout the year! 😊
bookerdana · M
Breakfast meaning or not,its just above freezing here,Toronto is an icebox and generally the whole Northern tier of the country is an icicle..Novembrrrrrr
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
Don't worry.....I'm eating an Ice Cream cone and taste like Climate Change 😵‍💫
DCarey · 46-50, M
Yes, and we're going down into the 20s tonight. Feels like January.
MsSwan ·
It's usually warm in Vagina.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
It's because of the global warming
BLP11520 · 61-69, M
24 here in Oklahoma
InHeaven · F
Ya, some global BOILING
Same here. 🙂
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
Try to stay warm.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@cherokeepatti The days I hated were those 26 degree days with those northerly winds. Having to work outside all day those winds just cut through you.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Musicman People who have lived in both Oklahoma and Colorado told me that Oklahoma’s cold is much worse than Colorado’s cold winters. I don’t know what the difference is but everyone I know who has lived in both states has said the same thing. It’s miserable to be outdoors here in the winter unless a rare warm front has arrived.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@cherokeepatti My only guess would be Colorado is dryer and Oklahoma has more humidity. I definitely don't like cold weather.
