Anybody love God but not attendting church at moment?

I been listing to a local church service, though.
And am thinking about attending
I messaged the pastor and may arrange a phone call, he suggest that in email.
I liked what I heard.
I stopped attending one because, I'm not one who likes politics preached from the pulpit.
I don't mean relevant to scripture, but pure endorsement.
Maybe, I am a dinosaur and that scruple doesn't exist anymore?
I go to church to worship God not man.

They aren't supposed to be political ..unfortunately I'm seeing it too . I belong to a synagogue and at times it can get that way but I try to overlook that and remember why I go in the first place . I hope you find a church that feels right to you .

@chernobylplaygr0unds Thank you so much.

I don’t attend church anymore. While I believe in God, I don’t believe in church being the all-redeeming path in my life. For me, it’s a building full of people looking inward instead of outward. But, then again, I’ve never quite matched the cookie-cutter expectations when attending a church.

I believe people should go where they are spiritually led and fed. If this pastor is speaking a truth that fills you, you should reach out and visit with him.

Politics should never be preached from the pulpit. Politics are dividing, but Jesus is uniting.
Find a church that teaches truth (from the bible), not human opinions or politics; and not a "feel good" church (ones that tell people what they want to hear).

Because my mom is in her last days, I currently attend "family church". Members of our family come together and hold services (singing, communion, preaching) each Sunday so mom can attend. Once she passes, I will return to attending "regular" church.

@shuhak I talked to that pastor again today I'm going to try going to the church he says they don't preach politics from the pulpit ,but stick to the Bible.
It's also a smallish Church, which wasn't a major issue, but is a little bit more comfortable due to my shyness.
I hope going back to your church will give you comfort and I'm sorry about your mom.

On the whole, I've always considered myself to be more philosophical than religious.

I have read the Holy Bible a couple of times in my life and memorized most, if not all of the chapters verses and so-forth.

I've learned bits and pieces about how each and every religion differs from one-another and have been to church once or twice in my life, mainly for a few weddings and at least one funeral.

But I don't consider myself to be a devout believer in God.

@Sidewinder And you made a respectful answer and I hope I have always been respectful towards you.
I do not push my beliefs on people seems pointless.
People ask I may discuss it with them.
They scoff I stop, because, I am not going to fight with anyone.
It is basic manners in my book.
So,thank you for that.

I stopped going to church shortly before I moved. Things were being preached that I simply don’t agree with. It’s crazy how much I’ve changed just in a few years, from being super firm in my beliefs to questioning everything I believed in.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@rissa12 You can if you wish always study on your own for awhile?
rissa12 · 22-25, F
@Justmeraeagain That’s what I’ve been doing. I still pray and read my Bible at least once a day.

I don't like it when the preacher tries to out perfom the meaning of the word either. And in a lot of churches that's what it seems to be like.

Church shouldn't be entertaining it should be meaningful.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Lostpoet It is a different world anymore and even churches get caught up in it, unfortunately.
You could just go and attend. There's don't nearly all churches allow you to attend as a visitor? And not giving any notice beforehand might be better in case they were inclined to change their behavior or message because of a known visitor. You want to see how they are in just a regular setting.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@froggtongue I could but he made the offer of me calling.
@Justmeraeagain I mean that's also a good approach. It's a good chance to have your questions set up and to shortcut getting to know what direction the head of the church goes with their theology. Oh. But maybe you could do a call after their next sermon. That way you get both the natural way it goes and you could start to consider what questions you might have for the church head.

I love church!!!
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Tumbleweed I am not a fan of politics in pulpit as long as that is not a factor,I don't hate church.
Tumbleweed · F
@Justmeraeagain No my Pastor absolutely will NOT tolerate politics in church!!
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Which god?
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@hunkalove The God of Abraham,Issac, and Jacob
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
You can always watch the sermons on YouTube and skip the political junk. I loathe how everyone and everything has an "opinion" now.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@uncalled4 I am listing to the one I talked about going through a series on Gospel of Mark. I just believe church should be free of politics especially endorsed from pulpit.
I go to church to worship God not a politician.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Justmeraeagain Agreed. I'm lucky that the church I sometimes work at is unlike that. They may mention current events and mention prayers for people, but that's it.

When I say "no politics", I don't mean "politics I don't agree with" like some jokers online. I mean that intrinsically a higher power ought to transcend anything political.
A good Gospel church will not preach politics. And the NT assumes church membership.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic I know about assembling yourselves together, I want to assemble to worship Christ not men.
