Christians who believe the world is about it end: Do you think children should still be going through school?

If the End Times are now and Jesus' return is imminent, do you feel it's a waste of time and money for kids to be going to school and learning math, science, history, sociology etc?
It's it a waste of time to teach kids to drive? A waste of time to vote?
If you believe most of us will be dead and some of you will be taken up to Heaven within your life, what point is there in learning anything beyond how to be a good Christian?
Should you allow your child to read anything but the Bible?

Carazaa · F
First of all, most "Christians" are listening to their pastors and very few pastors are teaching truth because they went to seminary where they were taught "Seminary" not influenced by just God and the Bible.

I know we have very little time left and we are the last generation, none of the pastors I have talked with agree. Many churches are just concerned with daily things, politiks, money, building a congregation, flirting, molesting people's wives, etc. Sorry but it is another sign of the end. Infact many aren't even saved. I heard firsthand of one who killed himself after he ruined a family after he molested a wife of someone in the congregation. These people are not preaching Christs return. We are in the last days when people are "asleep" as Jesus told us as a sign.

You look on the internet and you think many are thinking we are in the last days but that is a misconception. The entire world is on the web and it's no more than a few people that are prepared for his return. Noah and his 7 relatives were the only people God saved, not many.

We are living in the last days, that is a certainty. We are to live in the world, and if we are in a math class we are to shine for Jesus there because most there, or anywhere, are not Christians so we are to witness everywhere until he comes.
@Carazaa

I'm sorry i upset you. But i did read your answer...all but the last sentence or two.
I should have read it all.

@Carazaa ok bye buddy 👋

@Pikachu OK Thank you, I am sorry too! take care.

@Pikachu The sad thing about this cartoon is that it never gets old.
@Kwek00

Just gotta keep adding crossed out dates
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Kwek00 I'd bet there were people in 1666 that got burnt for joking about how people in 2000 would still think the end of time was near
walabby · 61-69, M
St Paul thought that there was no point in people getting married because the return of the Lord was imminent.

..........Still waiting...........
@SW-User

Paul was generally against marriage unless you just couldn't keep it in your pants but it was my reading as well that he was saying that there was no point in getting married because Jesus would be returning soon.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Pikachu The Bible is full of failed or contrived prophecies, historical inaccuracies and contradictions.
@walabby

Agreed.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Christians have been predicting the End of the World since 100 A.D. -- and keep getting it wrong.
@ChipmunkErnie

Oh i 100% think they're wrong. It was a failed prophecy that they must now make excuses for.
But within the context of that belief, i wonder what they think of any education which is not related to saving the soul.
You know what’s a waste of time? This question.😑
@Evegpt

Oh sorry to hear that. Arrested Development is on Netflix. Try that! lol
@Pikachu Why go there?
. I can watch shows about that on any of the alphabet networks.
@Evegpt
Yeah but this one has Will Arnett and Jessica Walter😉

I mean, the bible simply says to acknowledge that the end is near, not to stop living.
SW-User
@Pikachu it’s true but it scares me
I don’t want people to die
@Dshhh

You don't have leave.

Just try to discuss the topic without attacking the believer.

There are 7 church ages in the bible. Each one of them comes to an end and a new one is introduced except for the seventh one. The End times is the end of church ages. The end of time. Church ages span hundreds of years, that's why you'll continue to hear about the end, the end, the end. So it could even be 100 years from now who knows, the point is for you to acknowledge what time (age) you're in if you're Christian and live accordingly.@Pikachu

Well, St. Paul thought that the only purpose of marriage was to prevent fornication, because in his mind the world would be ending soon and it was better to stay celibate. He didn’t even think starting a family was a wise idea with the end of the world looming.

So it seems to me that if you truly believe the world is ending, then there’s nothing stopping you from completely abandoning worldly concerns. To some that’s probably reassuring, especially when they see nothing but chaos around them. “End times” is a way to placate yourself.
SW-User
1. Disclaimer I don't think the world is about to end but I am christian'
2. I think it's a waste of time to put our children through the American school system, yes.
3. They don't teach you to drive here. They don't teach us how to think here, let alone vote wisely.
4. Yes, we need to learn how to be the best we can be, but there is much value in learning about many things.
5. Yes you should allow your children to read whatever they please.

Any more questions
@SW-User

In many ways it's not great and in many ways its worse than what other countries have got but it's still producing relatively well educated humans lol
SW-User
@Pikachu It's definitely gone down hill since I graduated in 2014 but hey.
So to your question, are there actually people that think "Well the world is ending might as well give up"
@SW-User

Well there are absolutely Christians who think the world is about to end.
My question is trying to identify whether they think there's any point to education beyond what the bible teaches given that the world is going to burn in a few years.
Fairydust · F
Schools have been taken over gradually to brain wash the kids, make things more acceptable, just like what you see on tv.
@Fairydust

lol sorry, i can't take your seriously.
Maybe circle back and try to engage with the question.
Fairydust · F
@Pikachu you’d have to look into it, i can’t explain In in a small post. Then I get accused of being an idiot or whatever and mocked.
Pointless 🤷🏼‍♀️
@Fairydust

Well isn't that just what a flat earther would say?
You brought it up. If you can't back it up then yeah, you're opening yourself up to mockery🤷‍♀️

A visitor walks up the driveway towards the lunatic asylum. He comes on an inmate sitting by a flower bed and casting flies with a fishing pole. Thinking to humor him the man asks 'how many have you caught?'

Comes the reply - 'You're the third' 😝
Entwistle · 56-60, M
The end of the world is getting closer,you cant deny that tbh.
@ElwoodBlues

Yeah that used to really bum me out when i was a kid lol
@ElwoodBlues What if you time ran out tonight?😟
@Evegpt
Good morning!
Didn't happen so the question is moot!
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Is the world ending? I'll make you a cash offer on all your stuff. I'll even pay closing costs on your property.
@Crazywaterspring

lol kinda funny, kinda not since people who have really bought into the idea that the world is about to end have indeed sold everything and done worse things.
Lostpoet · M
Even if the world ends kids and people still need to live.
@Lostpoet
do you think there won't be learning challenges in heaven
Yes. That is exactly what i think and what is meant by paradise.
There will not be conflict or else it's not paradise.
There will not be challenge or else it's not paradise.
There will not be need for growth because you're a perfect being...or else it's not paradise.
Lostpoet · M
@Pikachu I guess that's right
@Lostpoet

I mean who knows, maybe in Heaven you still have to work a 9 to 5, deal with your shitty neighbour and pay your taxes lol.
SW-User
Tbh this post is basically a set of assumptions rather than a discussion but to answer this end times is not about excusing yourself from your responsibilities, it's about focusing on God
@SW-User

What set of assumptions? Do you mean the premise?

What responsibilities are you referring to?
SW-User
It has to end at some point
@SW-User

No doubt
