Christians, should you be eating meat? In order to find out, answer this question for yourself: Is it right to enjoy the product of torture?

Because the animals we eat are undeniably and brutally tortured, many of them from the moment of their birth to their painful, terrifying death.
But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.
It's funny, considering that the original world described in the Garden of Eden was a vegan world; the first animals were only killed after the Fall.

@1354swrdt Mao was almost as much of a totalitarian as Yahweh is in the bible

You sound mad to me! 🤣🤣🤣@Pikachu

@LordShadowfire you talk drivel. I leave it to you

I was brought up "southern Baptist" and have never head of such a thing before. As a matter of fact in the bible you'll find this......In Leviticus 11, the Lord speaks to Moses and Aaron and sets out which animals can be eaten and which cannot: “You may eat any animal that has a divided hoof and that chews the cud.

It's been a long time since I've done "structured religion" because I don't agree with it all.

Many biblical scholars believe that Jesus was a vegetarian. Jesus' message is one of love and compassion, and there is nothing loving or compassionate about factory farms and slaughterhouses, where billions of animals live miserable lives and die violent, bloody deaths.😔
@Peaches

It's a pretty awful industry overall.
I wouldn't be shocked to find that Jesus was a vegetarian but i don't know of any scripture that suggests it. I think his care and concern was pretty explicitly directed towards humanity.

@Pikachu I mean homeboi fed fish to a crowd... Granted, most of it came from nowhere and was therefore ethically produced.
@BlueVeins
lol good point

Just like you to misunderstand a verse of scripture taken out of context! 😃😃😃
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
Look at what you have written and see who is making ad hominem attacks 😃@LordShadowfire
@1354swrdt Still you. You accused me of being a communist because I don't believe in your particular god. You're also guilty of the poisoning the well fallacy.
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
I didn’t accuse you of being a communist I just gave you an example of the glories of atheism. With all you’re having and puffing he just cannot seem to get any sense at all@LordShadowfire
Was hoping for a bit more of a response to this one. But perhaps it's just too inconvenient a thought for the average Christian...
walabby · 61-69, M
The claim that animals are tortured all their lives before being slaughtered is complete bs. Stressed animals make lousy eating. SOME animals are certainly mistreated, but that would be a small minority.
@walabby
, but that would be a small minority.
I don't think that really stands up to scrutiny.
The fact is that the predominant sources of beef, pork, poultry etc comes from factory farms....and factory farms are not good places.
It's bad. Really, really bad.

Check out my post previous to this one and take up the challenge if you want to know what i'm talking about.
Really · 80-89, M
But what if the animals are un-Christian?
Really · 80-89, M
@Pikachu Why are you calling only on Christians to consider the morality of meat-eating? I despise the false notion that only within Christianity have ethics and morality been of concern to humans.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Really Is it okay to eat a holy donkey?
@Really

I'm not only calling out Christians in general. I am only calling out Christians in this post and appealing to scripture as a means to make them take thoughtful pause about the choices they make.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
If as a catholic i can eat Jesus body and drink his blood then yes its fine to eat tortured animals!!
@Entwistle

Jesus gave his life willingly and bade us eat of his body and drink his blood.
The same is not so for animals.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Not Christian, but I've been told in going to hell by quite a few. That said I don't eat meat for animal rights and the environment.
@basilfawlty89
Two good reasons.
There was a time when I could afford to buy only cruelty-free brands of meat. I want to get back to that. Not just because I don't approve of animal torture, but because there's a noticeable improvement in flavor.
Wow. The video is age restricted. How gory is it?
@LordShadowfire

This video is actually not particularly gory, just upsetting. It's a cow getting "stunned" with a bolt gun and it doesn't take.
@Pikachu Oh... ew.
@LordShadowfire

Yeah it's pretty sad.
Hence the point of this thread.
