Christians, should you be eating meat? In order to find out, answer this question for yourself: Is it right to enjoy the product of torture?

Because the animals we eat are undeniably and brutally tortured, many of them from the moment of their birth to their painful, terrifying death.
But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.
It's funny, considering that the original world described in the Garden of Eden was a vegan world; the first animals were only killed after the Fall.

After the flood@BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt nah, a couple are killed by God in Genesis 3 to make clothes for Adam & Eve
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
Not to eat however @BlueVeins

@1354swrdt I seem to recall them eating animals after they left the garden.

@1354swrdt Okay, I'll defer on this one. It's been a while.

Genesis 9:3@LordShadowfire

@1354swrdt Was that God's way of apologizing for flooding the planet? "Hey, I'm sorry I killed everybody you ever knew. As a consolation prize, you can now eat animals."
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
God does not need to apologise for anything - least if all to you@LordShadowfire
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@1354swrdt I'm just saying, it's weird. When they left the garden, they were still only allowed to eat plants.

Also, I would love it if God were to apologize for creating cancer. But that's a debate for a different post.
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
Actually it is a fallen creation that creates cancer. You are a typical atheist - mad with a god you don’t believe in! @LordShadowfire
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt uh huh and who knowingly precipitated the events that caused the Fall
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
Read Genesis. I believe it was mankind doing what he was told specifically not to do @BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt It's a rhetorical question, the answer is God did. In Genesis, he created the Tree of Knowledge, the Tree of Life, the snake, Adam, and Eve, with full knowledge that they all had flaws that would cause them to introduce sin into the world. He caused the Fall through all these actors; he doesn't get off the hook just because he didn't personally do it.
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
Typical human being trying to evade responsibility. You are doing what Adam and Eve did at the beginning. @BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt Adam and Eve: believe literally the first lie they've ever heard in their lives
God:
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
So do you@BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt Yeah, I probably did believe the first lie I was ever told. Most kids start out pretty damn naive. But getting back on-track, using proxies to do a deed doesn't absolve you of guilt. If I build a robot that kills my neighbor, I can't turn around and blame the robot to get off scott-free. I constructed the damn thing and I knew exactly what it would do. Any court would agree that that's 100% my own fault.
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
But God didn’t build robots @BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt yeah, he built human beings who he knew would help precipitate the fall. In an analogy, some things are similar and some things are different. The point is that the differences don't negate the central point.
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
You are just trying to abdicate your personal responsibility @BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt why would I have to abdicate responsibility for the actions that people other than me took in a fictional story?
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
So you are mad at a god you don’t believe in and arguing obsessively over what you believe is a fictional story? Have you a mental disorder!p? @BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@1354swrdt you should ask that to star wars fans
1354swrdt · 70-79, M
I am not one@BlueVeins
