I Am Now a Freemason

I was initiated into a Masonic lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England last Thursday. It was an exciting and unique experience which I will never forget. I am still processing it all and trying to understand the ceremony I went through. I am told I will probably need to see it performed several times and study it deeply to properly understand it. All I can say is that it was amazing and that I have never experienced anything quite like it before.

I have a Freemason pin. It was my grandfather's.
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@TeenAngel A great treasure.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
Congratulations.
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@WintaTheAngle Thank you.
Adstar · 56-60, M
Thanks be to God that i never became a Freemason..
Adstar · 56-60, M
@BritishPerson What is said is said.. And no Christian would ever say it... Yes you are not joking.. You are twisting things to cushion your conscience out of loyalty to a worldly organization..
BritishPerson · 41-45, M
@Adstar What is said is said? Ok, just read whatever you like into it then. I have told you what it means in context but you want to as subscribe your own meaning and make it out to be something it's not.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@BritishPerson I see it as it is..
ChrissieMe · 31-35, F
Trouser leg rolled up?
Rope round neck?
Blindfolded? pricked with sword?
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@ChrissieMe I will say that nothing I did or experienced was 'crazy.' Strange perhaps, but not crazy. There is meaning behind everything that takes place, which makes sense when understood.
ChrissieMe · 31-35, F
@MrSimons forgot bare nipple lol
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@ChrissieMe What would be so funny about that? Haven't you ever been to the beach and seen a guy with no shirt on? You can see both his nipples and his bellybutton there:).
InHeaven · F
Can you describe the ceremony
InHeaven · F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout is that Pope at the end of the table 🤔🤔🤔 I can’t tell
InHeaven · F
@MrSimons If someone really wants to do something no one or nothing can spoil it for them or stop them. So, don’t worry about that. But for some reason all other ceremonies are open, only mason and satanists are all closed and —>🤫

I knew you wouldn’t. All masons come up with all kinds of excuses 🤫
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@InHeaven Describing the Initiation ceremony would be akin to giving spoilers for a book someone has not yet read or a movie someone has not yet watched. There would be no surprises and the experience would be diminished as a result. That's really why I don't want to go into too much detail about the ceremony in general. It's also why I don't want to be told anything about the Fellowcraft and Master Mason degree ceremonies before I am passed and raised.

Of course, the modes of recognition (the password, grip and sign of each degree) are never to be disclosed to anyone who is not a Mason (and I don't yet know the ones for the Fellowcraft or Master Mason degrees). I have sworn a solemn oath never to reveal them and if I were to do so, it would mean I am not a trustworthy or honourable person.

However, I intend to be very open about my membership and will answer any question I am allowed (and able) to answer.

Good for u Monsieur.. congradulation
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@Abbenthewarwolf Thank you. I wasn't sure how you would feel about it.
Abbenthewarwolf · 18-21, M
@MrSimons I'm good with it.
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@Abbenthewarwolf I am glad. It is something I greatly enjoy and we have opportunities to do a lot of public good. We are also not trying to take over the world as some people seem to think. Lol.
usher · 41-45, F
what is that
BritishPerson · 41-45, M
@usher A very old, worldwide fraternity with its roots in medieval stonemasonry. Today, we apply the analogies of building and craftsmanship to building our moral character.
usher · 41-45, F
@BritishPerson THank you for explanation

Azlotto · M
Congratulations! My Dad is a Freemason.
BritishPerson · 41-45, M
@Azlotto It's MrSimons, btw. I use two accounts.

I have really enjoyed it so far. I love the camaraderie. I get a real sense of achievement when I learn a piece of ritual really well. I love learning about the tradition and history of the Craft. You get to meet all kinds of different people from many different walks of life who will all accept you as a Brother. It really does make you reflect on your life and give you a desire to do better. It builds your character. "Making good men better" is the motto and it lives up to it. I am always happy to see anyone initiated but I would love to see more young people coming in because I think it would be good for young guys in particular.

I love the social times and festive board just as much. You have a nice meal and have a good laugh with friends. I imagine your initiation would be a very special evening for your dad as well as for you.

Which part of the world are you from if you don't mind me asking?
Azlotto · M
@BritishPerson
Which part of the world are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Central Kentucky.
BritishPerson · 41-45, M
@Azlotto I'm in England. I imagine the ritual and setup might differ a little over there but it's essentially going to be the same message and same aims. You're in your late teens/early 20s? Again, I hope you don't mind me asking.

So,,, if I told you I was a former Master Councillor, would you know fraternal organization I was a member of ??
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@SW-User I had to look it up but I imagine you would have been involved in DeMolay International? That's a fraternal youth organisation for young males aged 12-21, associated with Freemasonry. I had heard of it but can't say I know very much about it.

@SW-User Thank you. I will check it out.

@MrSimons check this out, you may know a few members

MrSimons · 41-45, M
@SW-User It's always interesting to see who belongs to these kinds of organisations. For example, I didn't realise Harry Corbett, the creator of The Sooty Show (a puppet show, very well known and famous over here) was in fact a Freemason. I haven't been able to find out if his son Matthew Corbett (who took over the Sooty Show from him)is also a Mason.
