Why do people have children and then raise them poorly?

For example, not socializing them with other people to give them social skills, building up their ego so they believe in themselves, helping them succeed in school.
Unfortunately, people tend to parent the way they were parented, unless they’re making a special effort to do better. The idea of children as people in their own right, and not as extensions of their parents, is still a fairly new one.

Not everyone is cut out for parenting. It's an unfortunate truth. Some parents don't have the support they need to succeed.
Wiseacre · F
The they shouldn’t have them...@Starcrossed

Some people have children for all the wrong reasons unfortunately.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
They don't know how to do it better. They most probably have issues themselves, like social phobia or something like that.
Honestly, I wouldn't do any better. I wouldn't know how to set boundaries, when to be accommodating and when to be firm. How to discipline them, how to determine if making decisions for them that would push them out of their comfort zone against their will will be okay or I would take things too far too soon and lose their trust. I don't think raising kids is easy at all.

That’s the tragedy..children pay for the sins of their parents:-(@CrazyMusicLover

It's unfortunate that some parents may not prioritize certain aspects of their children's upbringing, such as socialization, self-esteem building, and academic success. There could be various reasons behind this, including lack of awareness, resources, or even personal struggles. However, it's important to acknowledge that parenting is a complex journey, and each family faces unique challenges. If you're seeking guidance on how to provide your child with a well-rounded upbringing, I recommend checking out Make My Kid Star. Or teaching them they can do no wrong and always making excuses for their bad behavior and then they can't deal with real life when they find out their parents never let them fell or learn not every idea and thing they do is perfect. Like the every kids gets a trophy generation.

I think people have to work more now and they have less time for them unless you're a millionaire who doesn't have to worry about that or something.

Parenting is the biggest job of all...if u don’t do it right, it will come back to bite u!
@Wiseacre If they don't do it right, it will bite the KIDS.
The parents may never even know they did anything wrong.
Then, they wonder why their kid is so screwed up.
Wiseacre · F
Yeah, it bites both ways..@PhoenixPhail

Because most people are idiots and most people are also parents.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Maybe because they couldn't get abortions?
@Tastyfrzz And that says a lot about the number of abused children we can expect to see.
Born to people who felt trapped into having them. 🥺
Cause not all parents can be worth a damn

Someone asked what I listen to on the radio I said in all honesty unless I'm on a long distance trip I never have the radio on my daughter is always with me and if the radio was on I would miss out on the wonderful conversations I have with her.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
It's not like there's a training program for it. Speaking as a "first pancake" sometimes it takes parents a few tries to get it worked out. Just look at my younger brother, you know, The Golden Child...
Wiseacre · F
Asked myself that for years...many children go to school without breakfast cuz parents are poor and often addicts. Answer is: considered a human right!

Some kids are born rotten. Nothing will save them. I thank the magic Wizard in the sky I didn't have any, and very likely so would they.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
Maybe they didn’t know what they were getting into… or don’t have proper tools as they were not given those opportunities
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Narcissists are probably the worst parents. They're usually flying monkeys for them, instill zero confidence, and just use them like furniture.
@uncalled4 And jealous instead of proud of them.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Yup. Might be my least favorite people, ever.
@uncalled4 Same here. 🙁
The parents, themselves, were raised poorly.
They're raising their kids the only way they know how.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Because they themselves were raised poorly and don't have a bloody clue
PurpleBearCub · 31-35, F
Nowadays i think parents expect the schools to raise them.
They were raised poorly and just doing what they know.

I agree ... what i've noticed is that those kind of women pop them out as if it's a conveyer belt and then the flip side, women who adore children, can't be pregnant
