Why do people have children and then raise them poorly?

For example, not socializing them with other people to give them social skills, building up their ego so they believe in themselves, helping them succeed in school.

Unfortunately, people tend to parent the way they were parented, unless they’re making a special effort to do better. The idea of children as people in their own right, and not as extensions of their parents, is still a fairly new one.

@DoctorGerbils Not at all. I agree with what you said. A lot of people don’t even realize what kind of baggage they’re bringing along from the way they were raised.
